** Currently only available for online tuition/editing work & IELTS ** (August, 2017)

I'm a Master of Teaching student through the University of Melbourne (with methods in English & humanities), currently completing my research thesis remotely from Canberra. Prior to this, I completed a Bachelor of Arts with first class Honours in English literature from the ANU.

I'm available for face-to-face tutoring at the Civic Library and the National Library, as well as email/phone correspondence tutoring for focused feedback on assessment tasks.

I can help with any social science essay (history, geography, legal studies, sociology, etc.), but my main focus is English and EAL. I have tutored a wide range of students, from EAL primary level, HSC/VCE and VCAL, to undergraduate cultural and screen studies, and IELTS.

I have classroom teaching experience in:
- English - years 11 & 12 (Melbourne Girls' College, University of Melbourne Summer School)

- History - years 8 (Brunswick Secondary College) & 9 (Melbourne Girls' College)

- Geography - years 9 & 10 (Brunswick Secondary College)

I am also a trained and experienced public speaker and debater, and can offer guidance in these fields.

I find consistent weekly sessions of at least one hour most helpful for students. This is so we can focus on improving the skills necessary for long-term success, rather than just looking at a one off assessment piece. That being said, I am happy to provide sporadic and longer sessions on a negotiable basis.

I offer targeted feedback to improve individual essays and assessment pieces via email or phone correspondence. I charge a standard rate: $20 / 500 words for this service.

My teaching approach is modelled on the clinical teaching method advocated by the Graduate School of Education at the University of Melbourne. This includes continuous evaluation of teaching techniques to assess their impact, extensive data collection to track student progress, teaching interventions to target the development of specific skills, and differentiation to tailor the content/tasks to the specific needs and skills sets of the individual student.

I also have a keen interest in student wellbeing and am currently writing my thesis in this field. Finally, as I love the work, I have a positive, friendly style with my students.

Please email me for a quote and let me know any preferred days/times, I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Look forward to meeting with you,
