I am an experienced tutor offering expert one-to-one tuition at
high school and university level in the areas of:

- Molecular & Developmental Biology
- Biochemistry
- Genetics
- Evolutionary biology
- HSC Biology and Chemistry
- General essay writing and exam skills

I am an enthusiastic, patient tutor and I love to see my students grow to
understand and enjoy their subjects as much as I do! I take a down-to-earth
approach to my teaching, aiming to mentor and support my students as well as
teaching them what they need to know academically - I greatly value the learning
experience which is much broader than just the cramming of facts for an exam.

I have a lot of experience working with young people from a range of backgrounds. I
have worked as a peer support mentor with Inter Urban Arts for the past year,
mentoring young people experiencing marginalization, so my experience ranges
from highly academic young people to those struggling to even maintain attendance
at school. I value and enjoy nurturing young people across this spectrum. I also
greatly experience teaching mature students, whether they are doing their year 12
studies as an adult or carrying out university studies.

All of my students are welcome to email me at any time with specific questions they
would like to address and with draft assignments that they would like feedback on
during our session. I always put in extra hours for my students during the week.

My availability is as follows:

Monday to Friday, 9am - 6pm.
Limited availability at weekends.

I offer a special discounted rate of $40 per hour to students who meet me on
campus at St Lucia Mon-Fri daytimes. I am based at the Institute for Molecular
Biosciences (building 76).



Experience
I have tutored Biology and Chemistry on the Gold Coast for the past year. Prior to this I have
taught high school Biology and Chemistry in London on a one-to-one basis and assisted my
students to excel in their end of school exams.

Furthermore, I have delivered group tutorials and one-on-one tuition at University College
London in the areas of molecular and evolutionary biology.

Qualifications
Educated at the University of Cambridge in the UK, I have a first class honors degree in
Natural Sciences, specializing in the areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

I am currently working on my my PhD at the Institute for Molecular Biosciences, University of
Queensland, where I am carrying out research in the field of sex determination and gonadal
development. I have also worked as a research scientist at both University of Cambridge and
University College London in the UK.

I hold a current blue card for working with young people.
