Hello, my name is Beth Hinton. I am a qualified and accomplished English teacher
with over 10 years teaching in NSW public schools.
I pride myself on creating an academic learning environment where student are
challenged and motivated.
My tailored tutor programs involve an initial diagnostic assessment, setting goals,
and building on strengths and weaknesses.
Developing good writing skills takes a lot of practise. I will encourage students to
write in a variety of text types, develop expression and style and learn to master the
art of writing!
***I AM TAKING EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR TERM 2 WORKSHOPS***
These workshops are designed for students who are already accomplished English
students and would benefit from Extension work.
This terms focus is Shakespearian Tragedy. Students will critically analyse their
prescribed text. We will focus on how to write an effective critical analysis essay and
students will be expected to submit essays frequently throughout the term.
Topics covered;
1. The social, political context of the play
2. The structure of a Shakespearian Tragedy
3. Analysis of Major characters
4. Themes, Motifs and Symbols
5. Dramatic and Language devices.
Year 9: Romeo and Juliet (5th May 2012 – 28th July 2012 1pm)
Year 10: Othello (5th May 2012 – 28th July 2012 @ 2.30PM)
Classes will take place every Saturday starting the 5th May in the River Room
Parramatta Library.
Classes are limited to 7 spots only.
$50 per class X10 = $500 for the term
