Dr Christine Mathieu - Fitzroy, Melbourne
I am a fully qualified teacher and academic. I have over twenty-five years of
teaching experience, from primary to university level. I also have a good record of
publication. I offer personalised tuition in languages, the Humanities and
Social Sciences, and GAMSAT preparation. I provide tuition for undergraduate
and post-graduate students, including thesis supervision. In languages, I offer
tuition for personal, professional or academic interest in French (all levels),
Spanish and Mandarin (beginners to intermediate) and English (all levels). I also
have the necessary clearances to teach children.
I will assist you in all aspects of academic learning: analytical and critical thinking,
background knowledge, analytical reading, essay planning, critical writing,
expository writing, stylistic development, bibliographic research, examination
preparation and study organization. Whether you are finding studying
overwhelming, or you wish to extend yourself and better your grades,
individual or small group academic tuition will help you improve your results and
grow personally and intellectually. Overseas students who need help with English
are welcome.
Class times are flexible to suit your needs, with evenings and saturdays available;
fees are flexible according to the number of hours needed. Classes are structured
according to students' needs: for example whether your immediate need is a
coming examination or test, or if your goals are more long-terms. Classes,
however, are designed to teach you to learn independently and gain
confidence in your ability to meet your educational or linguistic goals.
Experience I have devised and taught university level courses in Asian Studies, Anthropology,
Cultural Studies Languages (English, French, Spanish, Mandarin) in the United States and
Australia to university level students and mature age learners. I have advised the WA
Curriculum Council on the development of school curriculum for Mandarin Chinese; devised
and taught intercultural training courses for the US workforce.
I have tutored private students in China, Europe, the United States and Australia in the
Humanities, Social Sciences, GAMSAT preparation, and Languages.
