GAMSAT Tutor - Sydney
GAMSAT TUTOR in Sydney, Australia
I specialise in providing GAMSAT tutoring for candidates in Sydney.
About myself:
- I attained 100 in the science section of the GAMSAT and the highest overall
score (100th percentile) in 2006.
- I have been the Chemistry lecturer for Des O'Neill's Science Revision Course
from 2007 to 2012.
- I have been a science tutor at the University of New South Wales and the
University of Sydney.
- I can teach Biology, Chemistry and Physics at the GAMSAT level.
- I was offered a place in Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Sydney.
- I have helped numerous candidates, many of whom are from non-science
backgrounds, pass or ace the science section of the GAMSAT on their first attempt.
My experience with the GAMSAT has told me that a firm grasp of the essential
concepts for the science section is by far the most decisive factor. The difficulty,
however, lies in figuring out what is essential and what is not. Knowledge of this
information, together with the right person to teach you the material, will help you
master the science section in no time.
With years of experience in teaching for the GAMSAT and analysing question
types in the science section of the test, I have developed a good sense of what is
essential for the test as well as a set of time-saving strategies for tackling
GAMSAT-style questions. My score on the GAMSAT is a good indicator that my
methods work, and that I have the expertise in the necessary test taking skills.
MY SERVICE TO YOU IN THE LEAD UP TO GAMSAT 2012:
Are you having trouble with questions from the science section of the ACER GAMSAT booklets?
From the point of view of preparing adequately for the science section of the GAMSAT, there is nothing more important than working through the 3 ACER GAMSAT booklets and understanding the logic behind the answers, not only because certain question types have a tendency to recur, but also because they are invaluable for gaining insight into the test-makers' mindset as well as for learning common pitfalls to avoid on the test.
But when you actually tackled the ACER GAMSAT booklets, were you baffled by some of the questions, even after looking at the answers? Did you ever wonder how you could possibly do some of these questions in a minute or so? Ever wanted to find out if there were alternative ways of solving a question that could be applied to other question types?
Then I am here to help you.
Over the course of February and March 2012, I will be holding a series of 5 weekly tutorials (see schedule below) to show you how your knowledge of simple concepts can be translated into points on the GAMSAT.
I will go over the science section of the 3 ACER GAMSAT booklets sequentially, showing you the way to approach GAMSAT-style questions, reviewing essential concepts applicable to those questions and offering time-saving tips for problem solving.
The following is the schedule for the tutorial sessions, along with Des O'Neill's Pre-GAMSAT Science Revision Course and MCQs & Exam Course, for candidates in Sydney; the tutorial sessions are marked with an asterisk (*):

- Review of key concepts
- Tips on problem solving
- In-class practice questions to reinforce concepts discussed
- Time for questions from the audience
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All tutorial sessions will be held at UNSW's Kensington campus in Sydney.
The tutorial sessions will introduce strategies for tackling GAMSAT questions using basic concepts, drawing upon questions from the ACER booklets and other illustrative examples.
In accordance with the prominence of chemistry in the science section, particular emphasis will be given to chemistry, especially organic chemistry.
Candidates are advised to complete or attempt all questions in the science section of the corresponding ACER GAMSAT booklet for that session beforehand so as to get the most out of each session.
For candidates who have attended Des O'Neill's Pre-GAMSAT Science Revision Course, the content covered in these tutorials will be above and beyond the scope of that course, and the focus will be on the application of concepts -- answering questions in a time-efficient manner with the use of shortcuts and exam technique.
Each tutorial session is 3 hours long and costs $120.
