Mrs Lina - North Coburg, 25 mins from CBD, Melbourne
I am a qualified and experienced tutor and graduated from the University of Melbourne in August 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts/Law degree. Since graduating I have worked as a tutor at Melbourne University, tutoring private students. I have also been employed as a tutor within the university's Centre For Indigenous Education, where I tutored indigenous students in a variety of subjects at university level. I am also a qualified lawyer and work at a city law firm.
*** PLEASE NOTE I PREFER TUTORING SESSIONS TO BE HELD AT MY HOME IN NORTH COBURG, as I also work at Melbourne University during the day at specific times. Due to this commitment I have found I simply don't have the time to drive to private homes.
I am available at weekends and weekdays at specific times depending on my schedule. As I am a qualified tutor, my rate is $50 per hour for all students. $100 for a double session (2 hours). *** PLEASE NOTE I DO NOT OFFER DISCOUNTS on the above listed price.
I provide tutoring in the following subjects - English, ESL (English as a second language) English Literature, Legal Studies, Australian History, Politics, Criminology, Social Work. I am able to assist with exam preparation, proof reading, essay writing, grammer and vocabulary.
*** PLEASE NOTE I DO NOT PROVIDE TUTORING IN THE BACHELOR OF LAWS SUBJECTS AT THE MOMENT DUE TO MY TIME CONSTRAINTS.
*** PLEASE NOTE I SPECIALISE IN YEAR 11 AND 12 AND UNIVERSITY LEVELS. At the moment all of my students are either V.C.E. or university students. This is where my experience lies. I do NOT tutor primary school students.
UPDATE - Year 12 students please note - I currently have a number of my students studying The Kite Runner, The Crucible, The Secret River, Citizen Kane, 1984, The Catcher in the Rye, Witness, Look Both Ways, Hard Times, In The Lake of The Woods, Kenneth Slessor Selected Poems, Streetcar Named Desire, Man For All Seasons, Shark Net, Poetry of Robert Frost. I have extensive notes/worksheets/knowledge on these texts right now so if you are studying these please feel welcome to contact me! I also have extra info for VCE students who are studying the contexts 'identity and belonging', 'encountering conflict' and 'whose reality?'.
I tend to conduct most of my sessions much like university tutorials. I believe at higher levels (years 11 & 12, university), students benefit most from discussion. I would be happy to structure my lessons with books or if you're keen on providing your own book that would be fine. I offer an individualised program designed with your particular needs in mind. I always work on problem areas first.
To get the most out of tutoring sessions I like to prepare for my lessons with notes/worksheets/information that you can take home with you. I like to have a direct plan of action so that we can work together to achieve success and top marks for you!
Students can reach me via email, phone or text message. I will endeavor to return your call/text/email ASAP.
IMPORTANT NOTE PLEASE READ ******** Due to the huge amount of phone calls I have received I kindly request that you please read the above information before ringing with any questions. If you read the above you will more than likely find the answer to your question. I am located in North Coburg, so students within the local area will be given preference. Thank you!
