Ms Lydia Sevdalis - Wodonga, Albury-Wodonga
I find teaching highly rewarding as I have special interest in children's literature( among a number of other subjects) as I take each student’s interests and welfare genuinely in account in my role as a tutor as well as offering ongoing, academic support in:
Verbal communication
Developing better pronunciation and comprehensive accents
Reading skills
Comprehension
Written expression
Spelling
Grammar
Vocabulary build-up
Literature interpretation
Essay writing techniques
I am available most weekdays and I also provide comprehensive homework after each session that is regularly corrected as are all sessional learning materials.
I thoroughly plan each lesson with care and consideration so that the immediate and long term academic needs, interests and priorities of each individual student, their parents and/or guardians are fully met. Each specific student, after my very close monitoring of them during the first few learning sessions, are devised their own individual learning program that they follow at their own pace along with my guidance. I also liaise with the students' teachers regularly if required as well as sending them correspondence demonstrating the student's progress sometime after tutoring has begun. This will take place once the student gives formal permission for this to occur by respecting his or her privacy.
I also have considerable expertise through tutoring children presenting with special needs like ADD and ADHD as well as teaching a girl with a significant hearing difficulty. This was after she experienced a serious illness at the age of five with no initial, previous hearing problem presenting previously to that time from birth.
Experience I can demonstrate teaching experience in mostly English and some Junior Maths with primary and secondary students including helping senior students with their exam preparation and essay writing technique. This also incorporates offering assistance with detailed literature analyses to help them with their exam preparation. I have taught a number of senior high school students since 2006 in NSW and Victoria and they have performed very well in their continuous assessments and their final examinations. I have as well assisted a number of senior high school students with their essay writing style and written expression by encouraging each of them to write their work in a unique way by also fully addressing the necessary structural requirements in carefully planning each essay. One student received a high credit pass, while another received a distinction pass through her writing in an interesting and informative way. I have strong skills and practical experience in the editing of academic essays where the students concerned have received very good results.
In addition to this, I have successfully tutored a number of children with special needs at risk of having to repeat a year but with my expert guidance, they haven't been required to do so. This has normally occurred after the tutoring has been in progress for some time as their teachers initially felt they needed to repeat an academic year to keep up with their schoolwork with confidence.
I am as well presently helping a number of overseas students from a variety of backgrounds around the world in delivering lessons online in preparation for their TOEFL exams. I conduct these lessons so these students can either pursue further study in English or enter the workforce more easily in the English speaking country to which they've recently migrated.
Qualifications I have completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree at Sydney University with majors in Modern Greek, Modern European History and The Theory of Education. I have also completed studies in Intermediate French and Introductory German. I have teaching methods and extensive experience in Modern Greek and History at all year levels in primary and secondary education. In addition to this, I have completed literature analyses in four languages throughout my training at Sydney University.

Subject 1:
As a native speaker, a fully qualified and experienced Greek language teacher of over twenty years, I am completely fluent in this subject. I have travelled as well a number of times there including having taught a number of classes with children of Greek origin in Athens in a fully accredited language school. I continue offering this language mostly online as well as quite often communicating in Greek with family and friends both locally and based overseas. I listen to Greek music and I sometimes incorporate this method of learning some of the lyrics (many of which in Greek music often present with a lot of repetition) in my teaching of Greek.
