Mr Nathaniel Cole

Melbourne Tutor

Mr Nathaniel Cole - Northern Suburbs/Heidelberg West, Melbourne

Mr Nathaniel Cole I am offering introductory, beginner, intermediate and advanced music theory
tutoring from a second-year Bachelor student, as well as introductory, beginner
and intermediate tutoring in the alto saxophone. I can supply a saxophone for
lessons, and I work well with students who need a different learning approach.

I enjoy teaching because it allows me to help others to understand what may not
come easily. My teaching method is very flexible, since I feel that everyone learns
in a slightly different way.

Other subjects offered, see lists, or make a request. Other subjects include Basic
to intermediate mathematics (up to and including a Year 11 level) and Basic to
intermediate English (up to and including a year 12 level).

Lessons are generally one hour in length, but can be negotiated.

The first lesson mainly involves a discussion of where the student's level of
education is at, including ungraded tests to fully grasp what it is that I will be
teaching the student. From there I will begin tailoring a lesson plan around what
the student requires.

I will teach as slowly (or quickly) as the student is willing to learn, therefore
hopefully allowing him or her to get the most out of these sessions, since the
student's learning - and enjoyment in doing so - is my highest priority.

Experience
Throughout Secondary School I assisted with music theory and instrumental (saxophone) lessons among peers, senior students, and juniors. I would run lessons with junior students when the faculty could not provide teachers to meet the amount of students in the saxophone program. I have also taught as a private tutor for almost two years.

Throughout first and the first half of second year at university, I ran a tutoring class for peers, as I was able to pick up the syllabus easily, and I plan on continuing throughout the remainder of my years.

Qualifications
VCE Certificate Complete, 2007
Sixth/Seventh-grade AMEB standard Alto Saxophone
Partial completion of Bachelor of Applied Music (Box Hill Institute)
Partial completion of Certificate III in General Education for Adults (Box Hill
