My name is Sophia. I am a native speaker of Chinese (Mandarin) from Shanghai, a beautiful east coastal city of China as well as a certified teacher with a Certification issued by RMIT of Professional Development Program in Second Language (Chinese) Teaching Methodology for Teachers in Ethnic Schools. I have more than 12 years of tutoring experience and 4 years of big class language teaching experience (both English for Chinese speakers and Mandarin for English speakers).

My teaching style is to catch the important elements in learning a language: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Put a deep touch upon the essence of the language: culture. Combine vivid livable illustration with situational conversations of everyday life. Make the learning language alive and breathing... Teaching in an interactive and efficient way. Emphasize on grammar, pronounciation and conversation. Attach importance on the application of the target language. I provide standard Mandarin teaching as a native speaker and promise to give high quality teaching in limited hours and more fun and freedom in your individual tutorial. Language learning is something more than memorizing or reciting. It also includes interesting stories and fantastic music as well as a lot fun you will experience only when you are learning it!

My language teaching experience and my language learning experience enable me to understand the languages of Chinese and English much better. I am an experienced and patient teacher who cares about details and tend to explain every point clearly. One of my teaching principles is to teach language with joy, and make my students learn useful information and use what they learn.. I am always ready for questions from my students. I enjoy teaching my students with the Chinese language and they enjoy my lessons at the same time.

I am a certified and qualified teacher in Chinese/Mandarin as an ethnic foreign language. I've achieved the certificate of Professional Development Program in Second Language Teaching Methodology for Teachers in Ethnic Schools from RMIT.
