My Name is Tiffany Newman. I am a university student who is studying a Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University with the intention of becoming a secondary school teacher. I specialise in tutoring Highschool VCE students in English and Economics, and also years 7-10 English. I am also available to tutor Primary School Students in English and Maths. I am committed and passionate when it comes to teaching todays youth.
I not only tutor but motivate the students to strive to be the very best they can. Working with Children and seeing their progress is the most rewarding feeling.

Primary School Students
Lessons are usually planned around the childrens progress and ability to adapt and learn new aspects of the subject. English Tutoring is Mostly based on the reading program ' Bridging the Gap' which is commonly used in Primary schools today. This program focuses on the childs ability to recognise sentences and words, focusing on reading, writing and comprehension. I aslo spend a considerate amount of time on the english language in terms of puncuation and the use of verbs, adverbs, adjectives etc.

An introductory lesson to the subject provides an assessment of where the student is at in terms of knowledge, capability and confidence. An assessment will lead to how much work and attention the student needs to do, in order to achieve the maximum academic achievement.
During the lesson the student will often be given work sheets and home work to complete until the next session. In english tutor sessions, a designated book chosen by myself and the child will also be expected to be read by the child with the help of an adult parent most nights. Other subjects will entail homework, extra reading of other materials such as news paper articles or texts.
High school VCE students-
Years 11 and 12 are a very stressful time on young adults and tutoring sessions can help take alot of stress off of them, giving thm confidence and reinforcing what had already been taught. Sessions mostly consists of revision, discussion of texts, key themes and ideas, and quite often finishing homework. Having a tutor in VCE I find helps a lot with SAC's, exams and assessments, as having an outsiders perspective is always a bonus.

I intend to make the tutoring sessions as fun for the child as possible so that learning becomes interesting and exciting. The efforts fo the child will be praised during each lesson. It is important that the child like me and we show equal respect to each other.
