Hello, my name is Xavier and I'm an engaging and passionate Chemistry and Physics tutor:

A bit about my qualifications:

I achieved TWO STATE RANKS in the 2021 HSC, placing:

2nd in NSW for Chemistry (99 HSC Mark)
6th in NSW for Physics (98 HSC Mark)

Graduating from Christian Brothers in Lewisham, I achieved an ATAR of 99.90 and gained entry into Medical School at the University of Newcastle (JMP).

My HSC mark breakdown was as follows:

Extension 2 Maths: 98
Extension 1 Maths: 99
Chemistry: 99
Physics: 98

In addition to this, I placed first in my school for each of the above subjects and was named DUX!

During my HSC, I thoroughly loved the Physics and Chemistry subjects and now that I am on the other side of the HSC exams, I am keen to impart some of this passion and knowledge onto my students!

With my classes, I aim to go beyond the prescriptive manner in which most teachers engage with the syllabus and rather instil within my students, true curiosity and a passion for learning. I believe this is one of the biggest fundamentals for success in any field.

My lessons are structured around a very basic two-pronged approach that I believe were foundational in helping me state rank Chemistry and Physics.

Covering theory content thoroughly (I will equip students with the best state-ranking notes)
Doing practice questions to build and hone exam technique (I have access to over 8000 marks worth of quality questions which helped me excel in sciences).

Expanding on the second point, I cannot stress enough the importance of learning how to break down the question as per the NESA directive terms to hit all the possible points of the marking criteria and gain full marks!

In my lessons i will provide students with:

Detailed theory notes
Practice questions (to be done in class with my help)
Homework questions (to be completed by students, and marked in the following week’s class)

I have 3 years of private tutoring experience now during and since graduating from school High School in 2021 and have tutored over 30 students primarily in younger years.

I have experience teaching:
- 1on1 classes
- Small groups (4-5)
- Larger groups (>7 students)
