Melbourne Tutor in Essay Writing, Philosophy, Visual Arts
I have 5 years of tutoring experience with many students from various backgrounds and with different needs, skills, and levels of experience.
Subjects I Tutor:
YRS 7-10 English // VCE English // VCE Literature I have been tutoring English on a regular basis since 2013. I have come a across students who struggle with the compulsory English units in high school, as well as students who love exploring complex literary ideas and wish to articulate them more clearly.
VCE Art // VCE Studio Arts // VCE Visual Communication Design My favourite subjects to tutor are visual arts subjects. In particular, I thoroughly enjoy working with students to develop the skill of writing about art (a crucial aspect of the VCE curriculum.)
VCE Theatre studies I offer help with the theoretical elements in theatre studies such as written assignments, research and folio development. I can also help with getting a handle on the ‘theatrical elements’.
VCE and Undergraduate University general writing skills and proof-reading I will prompt the student to reconsider their use of words, grammatical choices, structure and spelling. I do not proofread FOR students, but I aim to show students how to proofread their own work.
I attended a progressive high-school and can see that different students learn in different ways. I do not take on a rigid or didactic approach to tutoring and I like input from students. This is not to let students "slack off", but to find the most effective way to learn and improve.
I started university majoring in philosophy and art history, as I love exploring ideas and theories behind what we see in our world. I now study Architecture. When I finish my masters degree I intend to work in a design firm. I also plan to undertake further study in architectural theory and work in tertiary education.

I have been tutoring for over two years with a range of students from various backgrounds
and with different needs, skills and experience. I am constantly changing and adapting my
teaching style in response to my students. As someone who went to a progressive high
school that valued the individuality of each student, I realise the subjectivity of the word
success. I do not want to shove information down peoples throat, I want to help people
realise their full potential.
