WEAK, WILD OR WOOLLY BRAIN CONNECTIONS CAN CHALLENGE THE LEARNER IN EACH OF US!

I strive to serve you well and positively engage your child's brain using these ideals -

MAKE IT CONVENIENT: We'll boost language, reading & academics FROM HOME while also sharpening listening, attention, memory, processing and thinking skills. No more rushing around. I also help limit screen-time by keeping things sharp, to the point, and typically power-packed into 20 to 30-minutes sessions so your child can get outside and play sooner! Longer sessions can be booked upon request.

MAKE IT THOROUGH: We'll do more than just extra learning, we'll build really amazing intelligence networks along the way!

MAKE IT AFFORDABLE: Discounts for additional family members and for pre-booking in 6 or 12 month blocks.

MAKE IT WORK: In between each of our tutoring sessions, I include access to personalised, daily neuroscientific skills practice for cognitive and language based gains. It is quick to do and it will speed up the learning process for faster results. Your child will be assigned their own special login and password.

MAKE IT BEARABLE: Learners won't do better without doing the work & that will take some effort but sessions are short and we all do better when we have people watching out for us! I'll share some easy, goal-orientated ways to get the whole family involved so you can cheer on your budding learner all the way to the finish line and I'll be part of the cheer squad, too! I also send certificates to celebrate your child's achievements.

The brain changes with sustained practice. When you find the 'right' practice and practise it regularly, you start changing the brain in the best possible way. That's why smaller sessions, more frequently can have a much greater impact than one longer session per week.

To add to that, now more than ever, it seems many learners find it hard to sit still or keep focus for more than a few minutes. This makes learning tough! I help direct focus & attention using a straightforward, brain-based approach.

When focus and attention are being addressed, learning can really spring into action.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š WHO AM I?

I'm a primary teacher who likes to test things to see how they work, which is time & money well-spent because questioning everything (first-hand) allows me to offer you something unique. If you've tried other avenues and you're still searching for the thing that will make a better difference, or if you have a child with learning gaps that tend to trip them up โ€” some of the time or most of the time โ€” then please read on...

I've taught in schools, homes and the TV Industry helping our young Aussie actors to manage their schoolwork and scripts. I believe memory is a big key to success & research shows when learning feels more magical, it's naturally more memorable (and more master-able)! That's why I like to steer away from everyday-learning & offer something different.

I welcome all levels of learners & provide strong reading and learning pathways for struggling, surviving or thriving students using brain-based methods and a blended learning technique that covers phonological awareness, phoneme discrimination, reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, maths and the 4 key cognitive skills vital to learning success - memory, attention, processing and sequencing.

To share my passion and help students in Australia, I search the world for evidence-based (and brain-based) interventions that compliment the learning efforts already being made at school while physically preparing students' brains for success with the 4Rs -- reading, writing, arithmetic and recall. It's this 4th 'R' of REMEMBERING that's frequently underdeveloped at school & yet it's so important.

I'd love to help brighten your child's world. New and exciting opportunities await!

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š HOW DOES IT WORK?

To help establish &/or maintain good study habits & boost your child's learning capacity, in between each of our student/teacher classes &/or parent/teacher calls, all of my learning packages include daily, neuroscientific training via Fast ForWord.

Fast ForWord is a clinical-strength, teacher-monitored reading, language and cognitive-skill program developed by brain experts & delivered in a fun, animated format so kids feel right at home!

It has stood the test of time for over 20 years & is regularly updated to make use of new discoveries around the brain & learning - the latest version has just been released! I regularly use it myself to keep my brain sharp and to engage firsthand with the work I have my students to do so as I'm able to offer the best assistance possible.

As mentioned earlier, I specialise in helping kids and teenagers but adults are welcome to join the fun.

Your child can complete the neuroscienific portion wherever there's WiFi, in as little as 30 minutes a day, 5 days per week (or at least 3 days on your busiest weeks). This way, we can get the brain learning FASTER so your child can feel proud and become a MASTER who amazes you with their progress, time-and-time again!

I work with all learners (ages 4+) including those looking for accelerated learning; home-based language therapy; or home-based interventions for: reading difficulties, auditory processing disorder, dyslexia, speech or language impairment, autism spectrum disorders, ADD, ADHD, a specific learning disability, home-schooling, and/or English Language Learners.

Experience

I'm a Primary Teacher.

I've been teaching and tutoring Primary Level Literacy and Numeracy for over 10 years, working in schools, private homes and with young actors in the television industry.

I'm also a fully-trained, Accredited Provider of Fast ForWord throughout Australia. Over the past several years, I've worked with hundreds of students (of all ages), customising and supporting their brainbased learning journeys.

๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’š

Struggling readers need 10x-30x more practice than peers to catch up โ€” but this is difficult through traditional means like after-school tutoring. From the comfort of your home, you can see results using educative technology expertly supported by your own educative human (me!). Your child can experience evidence-based brain-training that includes a NEUROSCIENTIFIC-TRIPLE-WHAMMY โ€” language, processing and cognitive skill development ALL-IN-ONE โ€” each learner will receive individualised, intensive practice on the skills that he or she needs most. By keeping things manageable, scientifically-measured (and therefore more targeted), you can avoid homework nightmares and enjoy seeing results sooner. There is something for every learner -- kids through to adults. If you have a struggling learner and you're looking for a home routine that can make a difference (rather than simply trying to reinforce what is already being taught at school and expecting a different result), I'd be thrilled to have you and/or your child aboard! We'll take a top-down approach that works the brain-body connection and brings a new ZING to learning by preparing the brain to process faster & remember more.

WHAT WILL WE BE WORKING ON?

๐Ÿš€ Language, Literacy & Reading Skills:
Phonemic Awareness, Phonics & Decoding, Spelling, High Frequency Words, Difficult Words (e.g. Homophones), English Language Conventions, Grammar, Reading Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension.

๐Ÿš€ Brain-Based Cognitive Skills:
Attention, Memory, Processing & Sequencing, Balance & Coordination

๐Ÿš€ Life Skills:
Improved Academics, Enhanced Self-Confidence, Better Communication, Better Ability to Follow Directions, Greater Interest in Learning, Stronger Mental Agility, Greater Alertness (a benefit to maths, sport, science & all other areas of the curriculum).

๐Ÿš€ Foundational Auditory Processing
Auditory processing disorder symptoms include difficulty following directions, inattentiveness, and learning or reading difficulties. There are several kinds of auditory processing issues. The symptoms can range from mild to severe. Children with APD can have weaknesses in one, some or all of these areas:

โ—พ Auditory discrimination: The ability to notice, compare and distinguish between distinct and separate sounds. The words sixty and sixteen may sound alike, for instance.

โ—พ Auditory figure-ground discrimination: The ability to pick out necessary and relevant sounds from extraneous background noises. Are you able to hear the person chatting next to you among a noisy group or if the kettle is boiling?

โ—พ Auditory memory: The ability to recall what you've heard, either immediately or when you need it later.

โ—พ Auditory sequencing: The ability to understand and recall the order of sounds and words. A child might say or write, "hostipal" instead of "hospital", or hear the number 356 but write 365.
