Methods + Specialist:
From experience I understand that both methods and specialist can cause a lot of confusion and be troublesome for students especially when it comes to solving the more abstract and technical exam style questions that differ from the routine textbook questions. Because of this I will be breaking down the entire course of these two subjects so that students can get an understanding of the topics and be able to confidently tackle the skill-based questions. I will then be developing the skills of students to tackle the problem-solving based questions seen both in Exam 1’s and 2’s by providing not only questions and papers that contain higher-order problems but also explaining the thinking process behind these questions so that students can gain confidence in their ability and knowledge for how to solve the more abstract kind of problems that they may be initially unfamiliar with. Besides this, I will also be showing CAS short-cuts and useful techniques that can be used to save time and to solve the more complicated questions in exams and SACs with a document outlining the useful CAS commands.
Chemistry is a subject where understanding the key concepts is essential for success as just memorising template responses may not always be effective and so I will be going through each of the topics in detail and providing summaries for each chapter and formulaic steps for calculations so that students can gain a strong base knowledge of the key ideas in the course. From this I will also be expanding the students’ knowledge and skill set by providing explanations on more abstract questions and how to tackle them while also offering a series of booklets of the more complicated questions for each topic covered in the syllabus.
I believe that a strong understanding of content should always be complemented with effective practice, which is why I provide high-yield practice questions and revision in tutoring sessions throughout the year.
I understand the importance of personalised lessons and will adapt to each student’s specific needs. I aim not only to teach students content but also to empower them with the skills and motivation to better learn independently.
Lessons are flexible and can be spent on teaching and consolidating concepts, or doing exam specific preparation. I am extremely dedicated to improving my student’s results and will also try to respond to any questions during the week through text.
For those interested in regular weekly tutoring sessions, I am currently organising my schedule for term 3 and have limited availabilities - so please let me know if you would like to secure a time (Online lessons available in response to COVID-19)!
I currently have a valid working with childrens check (can provide details upon request).
