When approaching tutoring I allow students or parents to make a choice between tutoring for a particular assignment (largely what is offered by most tutors) and designing a teaching plan for a longer time scale which augments what is being put in place in the class room.
Competed two bachelors degrees before turning 21 and have had experience tutoring 46 previous students. Also familiar with the ATAR system soon to be implemented in Queensland schools having completed secondary school in Victoria.
My primary mode of teaching involves passing on not only factual information required for the topics but also strategic and structural knowledge to assist with the achieving of the highest possible grades.
I tutor out of my office with the ability mainly on the weekends.
I structure my lessons very simply, for someone who is wishing to have assistance with a particular assignment or concept I will begin by designing an timeline, assisting the student with the structure and set amounts of work to be done between sessions.
For those students who I tutor for longer periods, after a first appraisal lesson I set small amounts of reading to be done between sessions that compliment classwork. I then set about instructing the student on how to develop their notes. The second part of my tutorial involves a continuous revision session which helps make sure that no information is forgotten after initial learning. This revision session takes the form of a relaxed conversation where the factual elements of the course are walked through step by step. This program of course can be altered to fit the form of assessment and the abilities of the student.
Currently working for a subcontractor to the Federal Department of Health in a secure communications environment which means sometimes not available via phone during work hours, please leave a message and I will return the call.
