Hello! I'm Fifi, the founder and Director of Teaching at The Reading Fox, a specialist HSC English tutoring centre in Chatswood.

I'm a fully accredited secondary English teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience across government, Catholic and independent schools in NSW. I have also worked as an HSC English marker and NAPLAN Writing marker, giving me valuable insight into how student responses are assessed and what distinguishes strong writing from exceptional writing.

After many years of working closely with students through private tuition, I founded The Reading Fox to bring my teaching approach into a dedicated learning environment where students can benefit from thoughtful discussion, expert guidance and carefully structured programmes.

At The Reading Fox, we specialise in HSC English for students in Years 10–12, including English Standard, Advanced, Extension and EAL/D. Our classes are intentionally small, allowing students to engage closely with their texts, develop their analytical and creative writing skills, and receive meaningful feedback on their progress.

I strongly believe that success in English comes from developing genuine understanding rather than memorising essays or relying on formulaic responses. My teaching focuses on helping students think independently, engage critically with literature and express their ideas with sophistication, clarity and confidence.

We currently offer two programmes at our Chatswood centre. Our Tutorial programme provides weekly two-hour small-group lessons, with a focus on close textual analysis, writing development and preparation for school assessments and the HSC. Our Mentorship programme includes the same weekly Tutorials, together with four individual lessons per term for students who would benefit from additional personalised guidance.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of helping students achieve Band 6 results, E4 results and state rankings in HSC English. However, what matters most to me is seeing students grow into confident, capable and independent thinkers who understand not only how to write well, but why their writing works.

Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students from many of Sydney's leading selective, independent and comprehensive schools, including James Ruse, North Sydney Boys, North Sydney Girls, Sydney Grammar, Sydney Boys, Chatswood High, Abbotsleigh, Pymble Ladies' College, PLC Sydney, Meriden, MLC, Knox Grammar, Barker College, The Scots College, Newington, SHORE, SCEGGS Darlinghurst, Ravenswood, Wenona and many others.

My students have achieved outstanding results in HSC English, including Band 6s, E4s and state rankings. I have also helped students make significant improvements in their school rankings, writing skills and confidence.

As an experienced classroom teacher, I understand the demands of the NSW English curriculum and the importance of developing writing that responds thoughtfully and precisely to examination questions.

Rates

We offer small-group Tutorials and Mentorship programmes, with pricing varying by year level.

Our Tutorial programme is equivalent to $90 per hour for Year 10 students and $100 per hour for Years 11–12.
