Please note the following before contacting me:
- Group classes are for Year 12 (Units 3 & 4) English Language only (not for the Year 11 course).
- Classes are held in Hawthorn.
- I am a VCE English Language tutor (not mainstream English or ESL - unfortunately I am listed as an English tutor on TutorFinder as there is no separate category for English Language).
- I receive many requests, so I may not necessarily reply to requests for other kinds of tutoring (e.g. for classes in the city/western suburbs, or for mainstream English tutoring). If I have not replied after a few days, please check that your request is compatible with the services I offer before contacting me again.
I completed Year 12 in 2008 at Balwyn High School, graduating with an ENTER/ATAR of 99.95. In 2012 I completed my BA at Monash University, with Honours in Linguistics. My Honours thesis was supervised by Professor Kate Burridge, one of the authors of the Year 12 English Language textbook 'Living Lingo'. I have recently completed a PhD in Linguistics at Monash University.
Over the last eight years, I have specialised in tutoring VCE English Language, the content of which I remain engaged in through my study of Linguistics at Monash University. I have tutored students both individually and in groups of various sizes, and I have also conducted revision lectures for Connect Education. Some of my students have achieved Study Scores in the high 40s and even the maximum possible score of 50.
Currently I have limited availability for tutoring. To accommodate more students, I generally run group sessions. In my experience, group sessions are better value for students, and facilitate greater discussion than a private session. Students also find it valuable to meet students from other schools and to get an insight into how the subject is taught elsewhere. However, I do also have limited availability for private tutoring.
Once again, please note that I do not teach mainstream English or ESL, but only VCE English Language, which is a different subject. I am listed as an English tutor only because Tutor Finder has no separate category for English Language tutors.
