The spread of subjects I have taught means that I have learned to be useful to a wide variety of students and attend to their varying abilities and needs. With a background in language teaching and learning, it is easier for me to empathise with students who may not have English as their home language.
With experience teaching Philosophy – which requires attention to logic and proper argument structure – as well as Drama, and coaching debating teams, I can help you with your preparation for Oral Presentations.
Prior to entering teaching, I worked in the printing and publishing industry, where effective proofreading is a must. This also means proper attention to good grammar and fluent expression.
My task is to turn you not only into a capable English student, but also a capable student overall, so we will also look at study skills and thinking skills in general. The hard, but vital aspect of VCE English is learning concepts. We will cover the concepts that are especially vital for success in the subject. For Selective Entry examination candidates, it will also be useful to cover some aspects of Logic.

"Mark didn't just help me with English, he helped me with learning in general. He found engaging ways to teach key concepts and taught me things that my school overlooked. He helped me get a better understanding of the base concepts in English and found ways to connect different concepts or make me see things in a different way. Mark was a massive help when it came to doing the Selective High School exams and was probably the only reason I got selected into Melbourne High. Mark is a great teacher over all and was a enormous help in making me enjoy English."
