I am a highly experienced English tutor with an Honours degree from Oxford University in English Literature (2015). My speciality is in HSC English tutoring, but I also help a wide range of students with their creative writing, comprehension, English as a second language, essay structuring, and study skills. I also tutor Modern History, Ancient History, and Extension History.

I finished the HSC in 2010. I received the Premier's Award for All Round Excellence. I studied English Advanced (my mark was 97/100), Extension 1 (mark: 48/50), and Extension 2 (mark: 49/50).

I know the HSC English syllabus inside out, and have taught it to private students for many years. I have helped HSC students improve their marks from a band 3 average to a band 6 in their final grades. I am particularly keen to help students improve their own critical thinking skills and trust in their writing abilities. In order to help students get the best possible mark they can in their final exams, I think it's important to teach students how to think, not what to think. I believe that English literature is an amazing and enjoyable subject, and work creatively to help my students to see this too. My approach to tutoring is conversation-based in order to build trust and rapport with my students as a basis for learning. I use familiar materials from the syllabus and work with students to develop a personalised program to address students' weaker areas.

I also offer intensive structured programmes for students over the holiday breaks, at any time of the year, specifically to work on techniques and tactics for writing essays and responding with flair to questions. These are aimed at supporting any subject with an assessed essay component, though I have most often taught this with an emphasis on English.

I also provide HSC tutoring for Modern History (my final mark was 95/100) and Ancient History (final mark: 98/100)

I offer general 1 or 2 hour tutoring sessions. I am providing sessions online currently.

Experience

I have tutored privately both in Australia and in the UK for the past 10 years. I have tutored students from the age of 5 up to university level, covering literature, essay writing skills, creative writing, English as a second language, and comprehension. I've also supported with successful university applications to Oxbridge and Ivy League universities.

Qualifications

I graduated with a BA Honours degree in English Literature from the University of Oxford in 2015, and my MA in Journalism from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2019.
