Middle & Senior School English/Humanities tutor. Literacy coach.
Sunshine Coast tutor in English, English Literature, History, Essay Writing, Creative Writing, Media Studies, Reading, Society and Culture
Tutoring: I specialise in English, Humanities and Creative Writing tutoring and literacy coaching for high school students. I proofread and edit assessment for university students in all fields from English, literature, creative writing, report and essay writing. I proofread assessment in other subject areas, checking on literacy and grammatical expression. This includes science and mathematical assessment. With external examinations in Qld, I specialise in preparing students for their external exams in content and written expression.
Times: I am available to tutor every afternoon between 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. I am available on most weekends, by appointment. The best way for students to contact me is by a text email, once initial communication has been established. My preference for meeting is at a coffee shop, library or the student's home. I CC parents if the need arises but I will invoice parents and do not involve students in this process. Payment: Direct Deposit will be established and a tutoring invoice will be sent at the end of each assessment.
Personal Note: What I pride myself on... I pride myself on generating success and confidence in students to improve their writing skills. I have tutored many students in private and public school, and successfully supported my own children who are now in their dream university courses. I have a Masters in Professional Practice (Creative writing), have Senior and Junior English teaching experience (30 years) and have literacy coaching skills. My approach to tutoring is to build a personal rapport with the student and work from where the students are in their learning, provide one-on-one consultations, proof- read, encourage students to strengthen their vocabulary and also provide on-line proofreading, drafting and feedback ( these costs a slightly lower since I do not have to travel). Tutoring sessions may be 30 minutes to 1 hour, and I will always have research, drafting and ideas ready to go. I read the novels students have to review, but I will always be prepared. I use a positive and encouraging approach and provide personal experiences to encourage students from high school to university to mature age students. I look forward to the opportunity to meet new students and their parents to help as many students as I can with their successful study pathways.
