Mr Sam Fenton

Hobart, Hobart

Hobart Tutor in Biology, English, ESL, History, Maths, Physical Education, Reading, Special Needs, Visual Arts

I am currently a qualified primary school teacher and I have been spending the last couple years doing relief teaching around multiple schools.
I can teach all subjects at a primary school level (except additional languages) and many at a high school level.
Ever since I was young, teaching has been a passion of mine and something I have strives to do most of my life.
I have over a year experience doing private tutoring with students in multiple subject areas.

My approach to teaching in a classroom and tutoring are very similar. I very strongly believe that when students are being taught or developing new concepts and ideas that they must be carefully structured to build upon prior knowledge and understanding. Because of this, I help students make connections between new ideas and their existing knowledge and make sure any work I set is connected to current school work to allow consistency.
I also plan to develop professional relationships with students and find out about their interests and current understanding so I can structure suitable and enjoyable lessons.

My availability is constantly changing depending on relief work and tutoring sessions. I usually have slots frees on a weekday evenings or and weekends during the day and depending on my work schedule I can even be available during the school day as well.

Throughout the course of completing my Bachelor of Education degree at UTAS, I participated on multiple practical experience placements in a range of different schools and grades. During this time I was able to learn under some very experienced and skilled teachers. Since graduating in 2013, I have been moving around primary schools doing relief work in grades prep through to grade six. The last two years of relief teaching has helped me develop my teaching pedagogy further and become even more flexible with my planning and lesson structures
I have past experience working 1-on-1 with gifted students, low achievers and special needs students.
