Hello! My name is Jasmine and I am a current medical student at UWA. I am looking to tutor high school aged students in Maths and/or Science for the coming year.
I am an approachable and bubbly person who loves to teach and can create a non-intimidating space for students to ask questions and learn. My main area of expertise is high school Maths, Physics and Chemistry (WACE level) but am happy to tutor in other related areas if required (Human Biology, UMAT).
My sessions are individualised based on the student's learning style, but generally are homework-help based sessions so I can see what areas the student is struggling with that week and can elaborate wherever needed.
As I am currently in my clinical training phase of medical school, my hours can change depending on what hospital I am assigned to, so a flexible session time is what I am looking for (generally after school around 4-6pm). I would prefer to meet at UWA libraries or surrounding suburbs, but can drive to your home if needed, though an additional travel fee may be required.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
I look forward to meeting you!
UPDATE - I have been mostly booked out for 2019, however have space for one more student to meet at UWA libraries in the afternoon
I have been tutoring high school and tertiary aged students since 2014, both within a tutoring business and privately. Generally my sessions work in a homework-help manner, which gives me prompts to see which areas that the student is lacking, and to fill in the gaps as required.
I have gained qualifications in Mentoring, Providing Skill Instruction and Making Presentations through Outward Bound, as well as volunteering in a number of tutoring based volunteering agencies such as Ignite Mentoring and Teach Learn Grow. I also held the position of Student Staff at the National Youth Science Forum at the Australian National University in Canberra between 2014 and 2016.
I am able to tutor a wide range of students to help them achieve their personal best, in an environment where they feel comfortable to ask questions but will also challenge them to push themselves.
I graduated from Perth College in 2014 (after moving from Perth Modern) with a 99+ ATAR, The Institute of Engineers Award, subject awards in Maths Specialist and Physics, and an Assured Entry to Medicine at The University of Western Australia. I was also awarded a full 4 year scholarship to Bond University. Throughout high school I attended the Mathematics Problem Solving Program held at ECU for 5 years and had a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including being the Vice-President of the Student Representative Council.
I then attended the University of Western Australia where I graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics (specialising in Astrophysics) and second major in Physiology. I had a GPA of 6.5 and graduated with an invitation to join the exclusive Golden Key Honour Society. Currently I am a second year medical student at UWA, achieving High Distinctions whilst also being heavily involved in student societies.
Throughout my education I have been consistently tutoring, passing on my knowledge in STEM subjects to students, but also using my sessions to act as a mentor, and answering any questions students may have about possible pathways to university.
I am First-Aid qualified and have a current Working With Children Check and Police Clearance.
