My son, Darcy, has never been a lover of English - I can't remember the last time he read a book by choice! I knew it would be important to get him support in his high school years so that he would apply himself, since English is such a crucial subject for achieving a solid ATAR and opening the door to his future. He worked with Jessica from Year 7 all the way to Year 12, always grizzling about his school English classes, but never complaining about attending her tutorials. For a kid like him, that was high praise! He finished Year 12 this year, managing a solid English study score - his top subject! He is now very well placed to follow his interests in tertiary study, which is all we could ask for. Jessica's teaching has been the best investment we've ever made, and we regularly recommend her services to friends and family. |

She explains ideas in a manner which enables them to be easily understood. Throughout the time I spent with Jessica, my grades and the standard of my work in English Language significantly improved. I definitely recommend Jessica's services. She assisted both of my daughters for many years, with one struggling with dyslexia yet going from hating reading to become a passionate reader and writer. My other daughter flourished under Jessica's caring attention, having suffered from mental illnesses and moving between schools -- even doing a year as home schooled, with Jessica as her English and English Language teacher. Both have now graduated with impressive scores and, most importantly, a love for English, reading, learning, and themselves. And now, with each successfully completing a semester of Uni on their own, I am so thrilled that their skills transferred to life beyond high school. Jessica is a caring and highly intelligent teacher who made VCE English much clearer to me and made sure I was feeling confident before all SACs and exams. When I was feeling very stressed out and under pressure from my parents to get good marks, she helped me focus on what I was good at and broke down my weak points so I could tackle them. Some weeks I really needed a counsellor and she was always willing to listen, sometimes even letting me stay for an extra half an hour or more to help talk me through what was going on. I appreciate her attention and support so much - she turned a horrible year into something I can feel much better about. Now I'm just waiting to see what course I get into with this solid ATAR Jessica helped me reach. Thank you so, so much! |

How can I thank Jessica enough for her work with me these past two years? I've gone from hating English in Year 10, being lucky to get a passing grade, to making steady progress throughout my VCE years, and managing an A+ on the final English Exam. Without her help, I would have been lucky to garner a 25 study score, but instead I've finished my English experience with an incredible 45! It boosted my ATAR so much and now I can access any course I want. Her focused and carefully structured activities never really felt like hard work at the time - I genuinely enjoyed working with her, and the homework plans taught me to study smarter, not harder. She built my understanding of essay structure and purpose from the basics upward, using a much more logical and helpful approach than the vague 'TEEL' structure my teachers would throw at me. She helped me develop my vocabulary, which led to some very humorous moments in class discussions when teachers had to look up the words I was using! Finally, her insight into texts helped me develop my own ideas, deeper than those from study guides of teacher lectures, so I truly appreciated the art of the texts. She made me wish I'd also studied Literature - quite a feat given that I used to hate reading! Thank you so much, Jessica - you've changed the course of my life. |

My year of lessons from Jessica was amazing. Being a Year 12 student, and with English
being a very important subject, it was crucial for me to get a tutor to build my skills. I
came out of Year 11 English with a ‘D’ average, which led me to get Jessica's help
throughout 2016. At the end of Year 12, I received a study score of 39 in English which
was way above what I expected. In my tutoring sessions, Jessica helped me build the
foundations of an effective essay including structure, language, and punctuation, which I
was not receiving help with at school. Jessica was a major assistance to me this year and I
owe my success to her approachable, friendly and relatable teaching techniques. |

I joined Jessica's tutorials later in term 1 of this year where I seeked her assistance for Literature Units 3 and 4. I found that as a tutor she not only had a great motivation to teach and to discuss relevant concepts with me, but also had the willingness to listen to mine and thus, assisted me to think at a deeper level and look at the subtle nuances of the texts I was studying.
I also think that Jessica has a tremendous love not only for the subject, but also for the lesson as she comes prepared to each class. Overall, I found Jessica an extremely helpful teacher, with whom, I was able to excell my skills to that next level in terms of the way I think about my texts. Especially, I would have to say that writing my literature creative response and seeking her feedback was my favourite learning experience this year. I would recommend her for any students looking not only for general help but advancement as well. |

VCE 3/4 Drama Sessions were extremely beneficial as Jessica has a vast knowledge of
not only the VCE curriculum but also the art of Drama including theatrical productions and
playwrights. Jessica is extremely articulate, and provided a wealth of ideas that I could
incorporate into my work, particularly when I was struggling. Jessica’s assistance was
invaluable in the development and execution of my solo performance. She also helped
expand my knowledge of the material studied and assist with written assignments that
were due. In particular Jessica provided guidance in order to structure essays and convey
reflections coherently. |

I can't recommend Jess highly enough. We were given 1 weeks notice for our sons'
audition for a drama scholarship and we were given Jess's details.
She made herself immediately available, and worked with Aiden on both the piece
provided to him & helped him choose a 2nd appropriate piece.
Aiden went from good to great in the 4 hrs he spent with Jess, and was successful in his
scholarship audition. I would certainly use Jess again in the future for private lessons. |
