Melbourne tutor in English
Literature, ESL, Essay Writing, Reading
I am now accepting students for the latter half of 2018.
This is my sixth year of tutoring VCE. I am in my sixth year at the University of Melbourne. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in 2016 with a double major in English and Theatre Studies, and Politics and International Studies (2015), and an Honours year (2016) in English Literature.
I am an experienced tutor to high school students, with my major focus being VCE English, and VCE Literature.
I specialise in contemporary curriculum materials, conducting classes by complementing and enhancing the theoretical knowledge pertaining to the English syllabus of the school in question (i.e. Frankenstein as text response, The Crucible as part of a comparative essay, or a thematic approach to language analysis). The style I use, and correct with, has been met with success over my four years of tutoring VCE English, and VCE Literature. Much of the updated English syllabus contains texts I have studied at a tertiary level, most notably Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Students may rest assured that in my lessons, each week focuses purely on the upcoming SAC, and how knowledge will then be consolidated into the end of year exam.
I focus upon strengthening their hold over their written expression, building a lengthy application of sophisticated yet appropriate vocabulary, and essay structure. If students have any particular qualms or difficulties, I curtail my approach to address any continuing issues, even if it means gravitating away from the most important focus - a particular assessment.
I have been tutoring high school and primary school students since finishing Year 12, and on an international basis have experience tutoring A-Level and GSCE students as I studied for one term at King's College in London.
