My name is Alexa.
I am a recent PhD graduate in Gender and Cultural Studies, currently tutoring and lecturing at the University of Sydney and teaching Secondary English at Matrix Education. I am located in Sydney's Inner West.
The best way to contact me is via email: email@example.com. I will respond to your messages within two working days.
I am an experienced high school English teacher, tutor, lecturer and educational expert available to provide tutoring services for all English students, as well as university students studying subjects in the field of Arts and Social Sciences, from an undergraduate to masters level.
For the meantime, I am only conducting tutoring sessions via Skype and other online platforms such as WeChat, Google Hangout and Zoom. My rate is $80 an hour and I require that each session is a minimum of 1.5 hours. I kindly ask that you transfer the money beforehand and email proof of transaction prior to the session. Email correspondence is included in this rate.
Currently, I am interested in tutoring university-level students in subjects which come under the umbrella of Arts and Social Sciences. I have experience conducting one-on-one tutoring sessions with undergraduate students studying: Sociology, Indigenous Studies, Gender and Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Media Studies, International Relations, Social Policy, English Studies and Film Studies. I am a scholar of Gender and Cultural Studies, though my expertise extends across a wide range of humanities areas of study, and I am specifically an expert in essay-writing for subjects within Arts and Social Sciences, which (to clarify) is the broader discipline these subjects belong to.
I specialise in teaching students how to approach tertiary-level essay writing. I help students to develop superior research and writing skills. I seek to maximise students’ abilities and potential by supporting them through the preliminary stages of university-level essay-writing, which involves navigating online university databases and finding trustworthy academic materials to form well-researched, perceptive and generally impressive responses. I additionally help students to form their ideas into persuasive, clearly written and well-structured pieces of academic writing that directly and coherently address the given question, thus placing them in good stead to improve their grades. I can also aid students in developing longer-term strategies and goals to meet their academic aspirations for the semester.
I must stress that I am only interested in guiding students through the essay-writing process – I will by no means write their essays for them. I adhere to strong ethical codes of conduct and have clearly set out limitations as a tutor.
I am an astute, passionate, kind and encouraging tutor who adamantly supports and cares about my students. I am committed to helping my mentees reach their academic potential and see clear improvements in their university grades. I seek to equip students with a range of skills that will allow them to consistently refine their academic writing throughout the course of their university career.
I have worked tirelessly to refine my scholarly writing, and I understand that writing at a tertiary level can be daunting, difficult and frustrating. Based on my own experiences as a PhD candidate and scholar, I can assure you that writing well is a skill that requires a lot of practice but can also be learnt through the proper guidance of mentors who generously pass on their advice, strategies, insights and tips – this is what I offer to my students.
Please do not hesitate if you would like to know more about me or my tutoring services. I am very happy to respond to any questions you have via email.
