Hi, I'm Andre, founder of The Vector Institute, a Sydney based tutoring service. I completed the IB at Newington College in 2022, achieving 44.75/45 (ATAR 99.80), and I'm currently studying Actuarial Studies & Commerce (Finance) at UNSW.

Over the past 3 years, I've worked one on one with 40+ students across 300+ hours of tutoring, ranging from Kindergarten through to Year 12, with a primary focus on IB Diploma students. I specialise in the subjects I sat myself for the IB, including Mathematics AI, Economics, Chemistry, SEHS, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, alongside HSC and VCE Mathematics and Chemistry, and K-to-6 foundational support.

Why I tutor

I never had a tutor throughout my own IB, and looking back, I wish I had. Not because I struggled, but because I now know how much faster you can close the gap between the effort you're putting in and the score you actually achieve when someone shows you exactly what the examiner is looking for. That's the entire philosophy behind how I teach.

My approach

Every session is built around active recall and deliberate practice, not passive re-reading. Rather than working through a textbook page by page, we start with a diagnostic review of your current work to identify exactly where marks are being lost, then build sessions around past paper practice, mark scheme breakdowns, and targeted feedback. Every session ends with a written summary and a clear list of what to focus on before the next one.

For Internal Assessments, Extended Essays, and TOK exhibitions and essays, I offer detailed written marking with annotations against the actual assessment criteria, returned within 3 to 5 business days.

What I offer

One on one tutoring, with tailored session lengths (60, 90 or 120 minutes). Small group sessions for students preparing for the same assessment period. IA, EE and TOK marking with written feedback. Written notes after every session. A money back guarantee on your first lesson.

Availability

Monday 6pm to 9pm, Tuesday 6pm to 9pm, Wednesday 9am to 4pm, Thursday 1pm to 7pm. Friday 9am to 4pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm. Also available online, flexible around school and exam schedules, get in touch to discuss timing.

Rates

$80 an hour for one on one sessions. IA, EE and TOK marking is a flat $90 fee. Package discounts available for multi hour bookings.
