I have been tutoring (preschool to post-graduate university) and teaching music for the past 27 years.

I offer tutoring (and mentorship) in a diverse range of subjects, including:
- Academic tutoring (Preschool to Adults); covering all primary curricula, high school maths/sciences/English, and a wide range of science/health/research-related university subjects.
- Neurodiversity assistance
- Overcoming specific learning disabilities
- Executive functioning skills
- Social & Communication skills
The approach is always tailored to the student and their individual needs and goals.

Music teaching is something I do for pleasure (as a multi-instrumentalist). Please approach me about your interests and needs so that we can work together to assess if we will be a good student-teacher match for your musical pursuits.

If you have a child, or are an adult, with special needs or learning disabilities then I can offer a supportive tutoring program to suit. I understand the needs and difficulties of those on the autism spectrum, those with dyslexia, dyspraxia, auditory processing disorder, ADHD, and a variety of other specific learning disabilities. As such I have ensured access to an abundance of resources to encourage those who learn differently including: Visual aids, kinesthetic learning techniques, and auditory training.
As well as working with students in academic areas, I have skills in the following essential (but often ignored) areas.
- Study organisation and survival skills for those who find this challenging (or simply want to improve) - I have found this is something higher education students on the autism spectrum benefit from greatly.
- Emotion understanding and expression
- Communication skills (for school, home, hobby and workplace)
- Structured teaching of social skills including practice and role-playing
- The effective and proper use of information technology (word processing, powerpoint, excel, internet etc) in studying [great for tertiary students and those returning to study]

Due to the large variety of areas I tutor in, prices are varied depending on the skill/topic. Depending on the age and needs of the student session times will also vary.

Depending on your child's needs parents are also welcome to participate in the session so that you can 'continue' the learning process at home.

I have a particular focus on those with special needs and learning difficulties because I believe they deserve the same chances to succeed as others but are often thrown into a world that is not set up for their particular way of learning or thinking. I am also more than happy to work with adults who want to return to study, improve their skills, or 'give it a go'.

Rates

NOTE: Listed rates are the hourly rate after applying the 5% TutorFinder discount (limited to the first 12 months) + the 20% discount if you pay for 10 weeks in advance. This means if the rate says $100 you will pay:
- $125 per session if not paying for 10 weeks in advance during the first 12 months after connecting on TutorFinder (these are shown in parentheses after the listed rate to assist); or
- $135 per session (rounded up from $131.58) if not paying for 10 weeks in advance after your first 12 months via TutorFinder.
If you need help calculating session rates without the discounts, just send a message and I will respond with the essential information.

A 5% discount applies to fees/billing for individuals who connect with me through Tutor-Finder (this is limited to a maximum of 12 months from when we first meet for a session, and it does not apply to the "half-price first lesson" which may be provided free of charge for relevant subjects/students).

Please contact me about your specific needs to negotiate the best arrangement and price. There is usually a surcharge for any tutoring/teaching where I "come to you" (depending on distance/time/subject/instrument and/or duration of sessions). I am always happy to work with students/clients to arrange discounts for "multiple students/subjects", "payment in advance", "hybrid arrangements", and "combined music tuition and instrument hire" (please note I have multiple high quality tenor saxophones available for students to hire, other instruments may be available based on enquiry).

"I've had two children learn from Dr Taylor. They will continue with her. My daughter went from straight C grades to As and Bs in just over 1 term. My son has a new enthusiasm for learning and is now two school grades ahead in mathematics. Not only does Dr Taylor teach all the subjects very well, she takes a genuine interest in the learning skills development. She has been flexible and accomodating with hours and this has made tutoring really successful."
