I am an experienced English teacher, having taught the language in Australia, Britain, Europe and
Asia for over forty years.

I work with you to improve your writing skills, reading comprehension and general level of literature. My job is to help you pass examinations at school, including the SELECTIVE test, the HSC, NAPLAN and English literature assignments and beyond into university. I work with IELTS students to address the specific issues of writing style and comprehension tests required by examiners.
Your business English, written and spoken, will develop with my tuition.

FOR SCHOOL AGE STUDENTS. Using specific texts for the SELECTIVE exam, NAPLAN and OC, plus relevant books targeting your age group, I systematically coach you in reading and comprehension, while helping you to develop creative writing skills and correct grammar usage to pass the exams. You will learn how to analyse text and answer questions that relate to a specific theme or main idea in a story. I specialise in tutoring students to identify themes and other features in text and then teach them how to write an analysis that captures the salient points under discussion.

FOR HSC STUDENTS. I work with you on specific texts, poetry, literature, plays and film you are studying at school, while also analyzing text in other literature to respond to specific questions, and examine context, meaning and concepts before showing you how to structure essays that address relevant questions in your syllabus papers. Your vocabulary will expand, your sentence structure will improve, and your answers will more accurately fulfill requirements, so that your written essays reflect a more mature and sophisticated writing style.

FOR IELTS STUDENTS. Having studied a foreign language, myself (German), to the point of fluency in speech and the written word, I understand the challenges facing those of you who will be sitting the IELTS test. You will learn how to structure essays the way the IELTS examiners prefer. I work with you to raise your score in the exam, focusing on writing, comprehension and speaking skills in class, so you are prepared on the day of the test to excel in those areas.

FOR PROFESSIONALS AND BUSINESS PEOPLE. If you are experiencing challenges in your day-to-day work life, you will benefit from the one-to-one specific guidance I offer you in terms of general business communication, written letters and emails, reports and business terminology. I have been providing a tutoring service to professionals for many years.

FEES
$80 per hour via Zoom

In the case of a cancellation, please give me at least 48 hours' notice, so I have enough time to move a student who requires additional tutoring into the time slot.
