maths.zone is a different kind of tutoring service, just taking in students from the Year 3 - 9 bracket, with the goal of training them up in rigour, knowledge, reasoning and problem-solving. When students have their foundations developed while they are still young/eager/moldable, in our experience it tends to make it much easier for them to excel going forward and become more self-sufficient learners (though where possible & wanted, we continue to offer them tuition through Year 12 and beyond)

The sessions are 1-1 and done online, using Scribblar.com for online whiteboards and mobile for voice.

Plus (and at no extra charge), we provide all students with the opportunity to access the online-learning package Mathspace, which Blair can use interactively with the students during sessions, as well as for setting homework (the package diagnostically marks their work).

Experience

* Since 1991, much maths tutoring experience (both in-person and online), ranging over primary/secondary/tertiary levels;
* Since 1995 (on-and-off) a lot of work for the UWA maths department: experience includes some recent lecturing in 2025, and during 2021-2025, helping students in many workshops with their bridging Methods and Apps. Having started in 1995 with working for UWA, also experienced in calculus and linear algebra at the first-year level.

Qualifications

* PhD in pure maths from UWA, graduating in 1999.

* BSc (Hons) in pure maths from UWA (1st class), graduating in 1995.
