I have a PhD in English from the University of Sydney. I have taught primary, secondary, and tertiary students for ten years, on an individual basis and in classes, mostly at the University of Sydney, Matrix Education, and Dymocks Tutoring. At Matrix Education I was Senior English Teacher and at Dymocks Tutoring I was founding Head of English. I have written numerous textbooks for primary and high school English students. Currently, I teach students from year five to senior postgraduate level. I teach HSC and IB.
My fee is $100. This covers our one-hour meeting, the individualised work I set and the marking of this work, and unlimited help with schoolwork throughout the week. I am usually in contact with students throughout the week to discuss whatever comes up with assessments and coursework. In sessions and throughout the week, our aim is to work together to cultivate self-reliance. My materials combine classical language and literary education with contemporary best practices in order to develop skills that will serve in high school and beyond. I value these skills. Having acquired them myself, I enjoy passing them on.
I conduct lessons online and in-person. I will usually like to meet a student first before transferring to online. I understand that sometimes home visits are necessary. If this is your situation, please get in touch and we can discuss the matter further.
Personally, my main interest is in comparative literature and languages, in particular English, French, Russian and Norwegian.
