I have a PhD in English from the University of Sydney. I have taught primary, secondary, and tertiary students for ten years, on an individual basis and in classes, mostly at the University of Sydney, Matrix Education, and Dymocks Tutoring. At Matrix Education I was Senior English Teacher and at Dymocks Tutoring I was founding Head of English. I have written numerous textbooks for primary and high school English students. Currently, my students are a pretty even distribution beginning at year five and continuing to postgraduate level.
My fee is 100 per hour. Aside from our meetings, this covers the individualised work I assign for my students throughout the week, and the marking and feedback I provide for this work. It includes any help I provide for school work, too. In the case of many of my students, this entails continuous feedback throughout the week.
I conduct lessons either at my office, located in central Sydney, or online. I will usually like to meet a student first before transferring to online. I understand that sometimes home visits are necessary. If this is your situation, please get in touch and we can discuss the matter further.
I am actively involved in writing and research. Aside from English, I have a great interest in French and Norwegian languages and literatures. As someone who had to work it out on their own, I enjoy helping others reach the same goal. The key to success in this subject is really self-confidence and self-sufficiency, not years of passive learning. That is what I work with my students to achieve.
