Canberra tutor in Chemistry, English, English Literature, Essay Writing, Further Maths, General Maths, General Science, Maths, Maths Methods, Maths Specialist, Physics, Study Skills

Hi, I'm Edgar and I graduated from Narrabundah College last year with an ATAR of 99.45. I am currently studying the Bachelor of Philosophy, Neuroscience and Psychology at ANU, where I am one of only 6 students selected for the degree. I am an experienced piano tutor, and have some experience in tutoring school subjects. My academic and musical tutoring experience give me a wide range of techniques to help my students - I can 'matchmake' any concept with any individual. Whether you are a parent worried about their child's performance, seeking to extend them in a subject, or a college student looking to maximize your ATAR (and keep your precious free time), I am the perfect tutor for you!

Rote learning is always subordinate to genuine understanding of topics, so although I teach study skills/tips and provide helpful materials, I will focus on developing my student's conceptual understanding and critical thinking, the most important skill for succeeding in school and especially in college.

I help primary school students of all abilities by building up to, reinforcing, or extending beyond what is taught in class depending on their needs. My piano tutoring experience has also refined my ability to keep younger students engaged and motivated for the best outcomes.

For high school students, my focus is on building a strong foundation in the knowledge and analysis needed for college and continuously learning what is taught in class and beyond, all of which also improves results.

For college students, I will help you reach and redefine your potential and maximize your ATAR. Having graduated recently, my knowledge of not only the syllabus but examination and assignment norms will benefit you greatly. I have past assignments and exams, including mock exams made by myself, and a sharp understanding of the Yr 11 - Yr 12 coursework to enable you to succeed. Most importantly, I will teach you to think like a 99 ATAR college student in how you approach exams, learning and assignments, like how to achieve the elusive 'critical analysis' required for A grades in essays and analytical writing. I taught myself this way of thinking during the first semester, which immediately improved my grades in all subjects in following semesters.

I teach college students how to learn and study efficiently, and will direct your study hours to the most beneficial practices. This is the best way to go through college as you will stay interested and motivated in what you do and enjoy your time. This is what enabled me to have casual employment through college, maintain hobbies such as futsal and piano, find time to see my friends and still succeed academically. The Yr11 - 12 subjects I can tutor are: physics (of which I was ranked 1st in the territory), all maths courses (applications to double specialist/specialist options), chemistry and English. I can also help with essay and lab report writing for most subjects.

I can tutor at my house in Red Hill, on campus at ANU, or at your house if preferred (for a fee). Please get in touch with me via text or call at 0412166347, or email me at edgar.medcalf@hotmail.com.
