Hi, I’m Elizabeth, a warm (and very friendly!) tutor in QCAA English, Literature, English & Literature Extension, and Psychology. My approach is built on the marking criteria. Instead of guessing what markers want, you’ll know exactly what they’re rewarding, and precisely what separates a good response from an A+ one.

I achieved 99% overall in English & Literature Extension, including 100% on both the IA3 and the External Exam, alongside a 96+ ATAR, a Subject Prize in Psychology, and over 95% in all my subjects. I now study English Literature and Psychology at the University of Queensland, where I received the 2025 Lizzie Heal-Warry Prize for Literature.

One of my proudest achievements is that my old high school invited me back to work directly with its current Extension students, giving detailed, criteria-based feedback on their responses. Being trusted with that says as much about my teaching as my results.

What that looks like in a lesson:

The same criteria-first approach carries straight into Psychology, where top also depend on well-structured writing in addition to a thorough understanding of the content.

Every lesson is tailored to what you specifically need to feel confident, whether that’s understanding the theory, structuring an argument, or refining your prose at the sentence level.

Depending on where you’re at, we might focus on:

• Building nuanced arguments rather than surface-level analysis
• Integrating literary theory in a way that feels natural and purposeful (Literature/Lit Ext)
• Developing the essay-writing control needed for top-band responses
• Unseen analysis and external exam preparation
• IA1, IA2 & IA3: developing, refining, and perfecting your assignment
• Psychology: data tests, student experiment reports, the research investigation, and extended responses that use terminology and evidence with precision
• Understanding QCAA marking criteria in depth, so you know exactly what’s separating a B from an A

I bring both a top ATAR and prizes in English and Psychology to my teaching, along with two years of tutoring experience. I know what the top band actually looks like, and how to help you get there.

Experience

I started tutoring when I was in Year 12. One of my proudest achievements was, after graduation, being officially invited by my old school to tutor Year 12 English Extension students during class time. I am also experienced in providing written feedback on assignments for students who don't need tutoring but want to ensure they are not losing any marks: I specialise in understanding the marking criteria to show them where marks are at risk.

Qualifications

96.4 ATAR, multiple subject prizes, Lizzie Heal-Warry Prize for Literature at UQ, Dean's List UQ, and years of experience building a teaching method that allows students to know they are achieving their best.

Rates

I offer a free 30min 'get to know you' session to make sure we are the right fit! After that, I charge $70/hour

Additional $20 per lesson for in person sessions to cover travel time and fees
