I am a qualified science teacher (UK QTS/PGCE) and professional tutor. I specialise in Year 10-12 Chemistry and Biology for IB, HSC, VCE, and QCAA and 1st year University chemistry. I have been teaching in Australia sine 2019. I provide face-to-face and online tuition across Southeast Queensland and northern NSW, and online sessions across Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales.

I have been self employed as a professional tutor since 2017 and love the freedom this gives me to offer students individual, tailored support to succeed in senior science. I work with students to achieve the high grades needed for entrance to top universities for medicine, veterinary medicine, law, engineering and related subjects at universities here and abroad. I also work with students who are struggling with chemistry and biology in school and simply want to do better in science subjects to achieve the best that they can. I look forward to helping many more students enjoy and understand their chemistry and biology courses and achieve exam success.

I teach Queensland Chemistry and Biology specifications, International Baccalaureate (standard and higher level in chemistry and biology), New South Wales (Stage 6), and VCE courses. I have also taught and tutored at junior and senior secondary levels across several UK exam boards including AQA, OCR (Oxford, Cambridge and RSA Examinations), CIE (University of Cambridge), and Edexcel specifications.

My Tutoring Offer

Tuition is tailored to the learning needs of each student and aims to build mastery of the subject and the confidence and critical reasoning skills needed to succeed in chemistry and biology. I provide high quality teaching resources designed specifically to teach and test progress against each course specification and to help students prepare effectively for the challenges they face in final year assessments, especially in assignments and external exams.

Tutoring sessions can be short-term, focusing on specific areas of the syllabus or difficulties in understanding, or long-term to coach students to achieve top grades and/or teach those who are struggling to learn successfully in class. I also provide intensive exam coaching immediately before exams to help students achieve the grades they need.

Online sessions simply require a laptop/PC and a stable internet connection and can be held during the daytime or after school at times that suit your schedule.

My fees

Tuition fees are $85/hour. Reduced fees are available where regular, long term tutoring arrangements are in place.

I studied Biological and Environmental Sciences (BSc) at the University of Lancaster, England.

Subsequently, I achieved a 1st class degree followed by a doctorate from the University of London, and then a Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Science (Chemistry).

I am a UK qualified chemistry teacher (QTS) who has been teaching in Australia sine 2019.

Rates

Rates depend on whether single or double subjects are taught (e.g., chemistry with biology). They may be reduced where regular weekly tutoring session times exceed 1 hour and/or arrangements are long term (e.g., continue throughout the school year).
