Creative, student-centred academic tutoring | Registered teacher
QLD Far North tutor in Anthropology, Communication, Creative Writing, English, English Language, English Literature, Essay Writing, Geography, Graphic Design, History, Journalism, Media Studies, Reading, Society and Culture, Study Skills, Visual Arts
I currently offer tutoring on a limited basis during the school term, with sessions available after school hours and limited daytime availability by arrangement.
Tutoring is available online Australia-wide, or in person from my shop premises in the Cairns CBD. This is a public, safe and accessible location in the centre of town, and not a private residence, providing a comfortable and appropriate environment for students.
I specialise in upper primary and secondary tutoring, with a focus on literacy, humanities, media and visual arts. I enjoy tutoring because it allows time for individual attention, helping students build understanding, confidence and independence at their own pace.
My approach is student-centred and supportive, adapting lessons to suit each learner’s needs, strengths and goals. Sessions are structured but flexible, and may include skill-building, assessment preparation, study strategies, or targeted support with specific tasks.
Lessons are typically structured with:
a short check-in and goal-setting
focused skill development or task support
time for questions, reflection and consolidation
I provide tailored notes, scaffolds and resources where helpful, and can recommend additional practice or materials to support learning between sessions.
I tutor students from upper primary through to senior secondary, depending on subject area and individual needs.
Sessions are currently offered at an introductory rate of $65 per hour, with shorter and longer session times available upon request.
The best way to make contact is via message through Tutor Finder, or via the submissions form on my website, and I am happy to discuss suitability and availability before commencing sessions.
