With over 20 years of tutoring experience, I specialise in English, guiding students to master the skills, confidence, and discipline needed for VCE success. I have a comprehensive understanding of the VCE English curriculum and assessment criteria, with proven strategies to help students meet — and exceed — examiner expectations.

English is one of the top four VCE subjects, and excelling in it can have a major impact on overall study scores, open doors to university pathways, and set students up for future success. Mastering it early and effectively is absolutely essential.

Lessons are designed to stay ahead of the VCE English curriculum for both Year 11 and Year 12 students, ensuring they’re fully prepared and confident before assessments begin. For Years 7–10, the focus is on building a strong foundation — developing the core skills, writing habits, and analytical thinking that leads to VCE success, while preventing poor habits from forming early.

• Guided discussion and close text analysis – core framework to write good essays – on repeat
• Writing practice with individual feedback – students learn to be their own critic
• In depth oral presentation – students are supported to achieve 100%
• Comprehensive language analysis – core skills to write this to formula
• Focus on framework – explore ideas, test different writing styles, and elevate responses to a high standard
• Exam strategies and time management techniques

Rates:
• $100/hour – Individual sessions
• $50/hour – Group classes (small, focused groups)

Tutoring allows me to combine my love for language with the satisfaction of helping students achieve results they didn’t think possible.

Whether they’re aiming for a study score boost or striving for the top band, I tailor lessons to suit their strengths and learning preferences. My focus is on building a strong foundation for high-performing VCE students.

Qualifications

My greatest qualification is experience — two decades spent helping students navigate the VCE system and achieve results that reflect their potential.

Alongside this, I hold a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from The University of Melbourne, and bring a professional writer’s perspective as a freelance contributor for The Age. This combination of academic insight and real-world writing experience helps students develop precision, clarity, and confidence in every piece they produce.
