Melbourne tutor in English, English Literature, Latin

Hi, my name is Lucas. I have been a tutor for three years, and I have taught students from years 8-12 in VCE Latin, English, and English Literature. I am a student at the University of Melbourne, studying Classics and Linguistics for my BA.

Latin (VCE and other):
I am very passionate about Latin, and this is I study at uni! Over the years I have developed my own tutoring resources, which my students all have access to. I cover all aspects of the VCE curriculum; grammar, translation, poetry (and scansion), and the essay. Most of my students tend to find translation the most hardest aspect of Latin, so this is generally the focus. Whilst my focus is VCE Latin, I would be more than happy to take on students learning Latin outside of VCE or other school curricula.

English and Literature:
I have previously taught these texts for English: Much Ado About Nothing, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Sunset Boulevard, 12 Angry Men, Animal Farm, 9 Days
And for Literautre: Othello, Coriolanus, As You Like It, Only the Animals, Yeats, The Yield


I find that online sessions are most convenient, and generally on weekday afternoons. Please contact me to set up a first session, and I offer my first session at half price.

Experience

I have 470+ hours of tutoring experience, much of which has been VCE Latin. Most of my students have been in years 11 or 12, but I also take beginner students, and students outside of VCE.

Qualifications

I am in my final year of my BA in Classics (Latin and Greek) and Linguistics at the University of Melbourne. I had an atar of 99.85 when I finished high school in 2023.

Rates

$70 per hour
