I am a qualified secondary teacher of English, Philosophy, Japanese, Politics and Social Studies with 18 years' experience teaching Years 7 - 12 in Melbourne, Japan and England and over 10 years' tutoring Prep - University on the Sunshine Coast. I offer tutoring in most subjects from Year 7 to Year 10; and in English, Japanese and Philosophy through to Year 12; as well as Literacy and Numeracy support for students in Prep - Year 6. Support and training for specific testing such as NAPLAN, ICAS, JLPT, and UCAT [UMAT] is also available.

I specialise in critical thinking, essay-writing techniques and oral presentation skills for primary, high school, and university students. My students come from diverse backgrounds and have a range of learning styles. Some of them have diagnoses that need to be taken into consideration when I plan and deliver lessons - including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome, ADHD, Central Auditory Processing Disorder, Visual Processing Disorder and Clinical Depression.

I left the classroom to raise my daughter (now in Year 4); and have found that I enjoy the challenges and rewards of one-to-one and small group tutoring to those of regular classroom teaching, though I currently teach Japanese one day per week at a local primary school.

Sessions are tailored to each student's individual requirements and may be formal or informal. Worksheets are created with the specific needs of the student in mind. My goal is not to teach you what to think, but to teach you how to think and how to express yourself as well on paper as you do in your own mind.

Prep - Year 6: $40 per 45 minute session
Year 7 - Year 9: $40 per 45 minute session
Year 10 - adult: $50 per 45 minute session or $60 per 60 minute session

Discounts for prepaid blocks of 10 lessons [buy 9, get 10th lesson for free].

An additional fee of $30 per hour is charged for travel time if you can't make it to my classroom in Yandina.
