Hi, I'm Madoka. Over the past 20+ years, I've taught around 1, 500–2, 000 students, and the work I'm most proud of is helping high school and university students(also other adults) who are struggling — the ones who feel behind in class, lost with grammar, or ready to give up on Japanese altogether.

My approach starts with finding exactly where a student is stuck — is it a gap in grammar fundamentals, low confidence in speaking, trouble keeping up with the class pace, or something else? Once I know the real problem, I build a plan around it. I've had some students come to me struggling near the bottom of their class and go on to become one of the top one or two students within their year group. They did so well in their exams, too. I stay closely involved every step of the way, checking in often, adjusting my teaching to how each student learns best, and making sure no one is ever too embarrassed to ask a "basic" question.

I hold a Master's in Applied Linguistics with Japanese specialization and a Master's in Education (TESOL), and I've taught at universities (UQ, Griffith), in schools, and at companies like Google and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. I'm experienced in JLPT preparation and exam technique, and I know how to communicate clearly with both students and parents about progress along the way.

If your child (or you) is finding Japanese difficult right now, I'd love to help turn that around. Let's start with a free trial lesson and talk about where things stand.

"Madoka Sensei single-handedly raised my average japanese mark from sub20/25 to 24/25. Ive been with her for two years now and she has helped me develop my Japanese to a high level. There were some tricky concepts in jap (te-form) but Madoka helped me with it so I know them confortably now and can use them in my speaking and writing. Another positive about her is how fast she responds to your emails/ text messages; she has always responded within an hour for me. I would highly reccomend her to any high school students who are struggling with japanese."
