I am a Mathematician, educator and advocate for quality education. My academic and work background includes Education, Masters of Mathematical Science at QUT and over 20 years of experience as a former high school mathematics teacher.

Working with students from diverse cultural, socioeconomic and cognitive backgrounds across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland has shaped my strong understanding of various curricula and assessment requirements across these states. My extensive teaching and tutoring experience ventures beyond simply explaining formulas and procedures. I focus on supporting and encouraging students to understand the 'Why' behind the mathematics.

I work on identifying the gaps and misconceptions that prevent students from fully grasping mathematical concepts.These gaps have a direct impact on students' ability to apply knowledge, think logically and solve unfamiliar problems. My approach is centred on building deep conceptual understanding, strong problem solving skills and confidence.

My tutoring methods are adapted to each student’s individual learning style and needs. This requires efforts to work systematically and strengthen student’s foundation while challenging them to think independently. The main purpose is to prevent the underling issues that deter so many young individuals from achieving their remarkable yet so often unrealised potential.

A student's progress in mathematics is also affected by their hesitation in asking questions, especially within the classroom. If students receive negative responses to their questions, they quickly learn that it feels safer to stay quiet. Additionally, asking questions can be seen as a sign of weakness rather than curiosity or engagement. As a result, student's develop low self confidence, begin to believe that maths is not for them, disengage from learning activities consequently widening the gaps in their learning where over time topics become confusing and harder to grasp.

I am committed to supporting students to believe in their abilities and potential to be high achievers in mathematics.
