I am a former senior journalist and academic with a keen interest in helping students master their subject matter and the art of creative academic writing. I am a published author, most recently "There's no good news" (Routledge, 2025), and I'm currently planning my next book.
I am a subject expert in all social science/arts disciplines, and I have vast knowledge of history, current affairs, economics, political economy, psychology, philosophy, sociology and theory-building. I work with university students from first-year to postgraduate coursework and thesis.
I am available for senior high school students in years 11-12, after an initial assessment.
I work collegially; I'm patient, good-humoured, and reliable. I have several unique techniques for teaching writing skills, and I know that everybody can be a good writer with a bit of effort and willingness to make mistakes. I call my method "think-write", and it is more effective than any note-taking and writing advice you've ever been given.
My hourly rate is probably higher than most on this website, but I know that with me you will see quick improvement and rewards. My rate also includes on-call access for quick consultations at no extra charge. This means if you're stuck and need immediate help, just pick up the phone.
