With over 30 years experience teaching years 7 to 12 English I can offer students individually tailored tuition at reasonable rates and in flexible modes.
Face-to-face tuition is my first preference, but we can meet online if that's the best option for you. For school-aged students I'm available after school as well as on weekends. We can meet in a library close to where you live, at my place or in your home. I have a current Working With Children Check.
Adult students, I'm happy to meet you at a mutually agreed time and in a more relaxed home setting or in a coffee shop. My approach to tutoring is to be open to the individual needs of each student. Once I'm aware of your specific goals, I tailor each lesson to build on your strengths and address any weaknesses, always with a positive attitude, so you can become more confident and skilled with each lesson.

During the past ten years I have had the pleasure of tutoring students of all levels: primary school, junior secondary, VCE and adult international students. The majority of my students so far have requested support with VCE English, which means I am well abreast of changes to the Study Design and quick to familiarise myself with the novels and plays they need to study. I relish a challenge, so contact me regardless of the kind of help you require and I'll do my best to meet your needs.










For 6 months I also tutored a young adult refugee who wished to improve his grammar and writing.
Since mid-2022 I have tutored over a dozen secondary students, most studying VCE English, and have kept abreast of changes to the Study Design.

Qualifications

I am a retired qualified secondary teacher (Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Education and Bachelor of Education) with over 30 years experience teaching in Victorian secondary colleges. For the last 25 years of my employment I taught VCE English at Bendigo Senior Secondary College, the largest VCE provider in Victoria. Consequently I prefer tutoring older students but I'm also happy to tutor students in Grades 5 and 6, and Years 7 to 10. My rates are very reasonable, with for concession card holders and further discounts for two students preferring to attend together.
