Hi, I'm Mike. My teaching style is patient, structured and supportive. Here are some things you should know about me:

Currently available within normal school hours for Homeschool students in Canberra/Queanbeyan area.

Also available for normal tutoring after school hours by arrangement.

Particularly strong in teaching primary math, where I had the reputation amongst the students of the school as the Math Guy. (20+ years). I teach the concepts and the interconnectedness of the subject. I know where the curriculum is taking the students (I even did a teaching stint at a high school to find out).

Taught anatomy and physiology and was finalist in Teacher of the Year Awards at CIT.

Love writing stories and have a good handle on grammar.

Speak reasonable Japanese (close to an N2 level).

Love history and science and can teach these ideas and concepts.

Focus on helping students understand concepts rather than simply memorising answers.

Lessons are adapted to each student's ability, goals and learning style.

I can help students who are falling behind, students who want to improve their grades, or students who simply need more confidence with a subject.

Bachelor of Applied Science Human Biology, Bachelor of Science Molecular Biology, Post-Graduate Diploma K-10 teaching, 3 years living and working in Japan
