Why I enjoy tutoring
My love of language and storytelling informs my teaching. I enjoy helping students develop their literacy skills, experience success and become more confident readers and writers.
Areas of expertise and levels offered
I provide literacy intervention for primary and secondary school students, focusing on phonics, decoding, spelling and written language, including support for students with dyslexia and dysgraphia.
My approach
I use explicit, direct instruction, clear explanations and guided practice. Skills are taught in manageable steps, with regular review and opportunities to apply learning. Lessons are adapted to each student’s strengths, needs and progress.
Lesson structure and resources
A typical lesson includes a review of previously taught skills, introduction of a new skill, supported reading and spelling practice, and application through sentences, connected text or writing. We finish with a brief review and an appropriate practice task.
Resources may include targeted worksheets, word lists, decodable texts, spelling activities and writing prompts. Materials are selected to match the student’s learning goals and current skills, rather than requiring every student to use the same textbook.
Availability and location
I am available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, by appointment.
Hours: 2.00pm-6.00pm
Sessions are offered online or in person at MultiSense Intervention, Suite 11, 80 Kitchener Parade, Bankstown NSW 2200.
