I have a Masters Degree in Secondary Teaching, majoring in English and minoring in Drama, from the University of Newcastle Australia. I taught in schools (primarily in NSW but also a year or so in VIC and the UK) for over 5 years and I have been tutoring for just over 15 years.

My philosophy of teaching is based firmly in the Quality Teaching Model. As such I have high expectations for my students that I back up with a strong base of scaffolding, and an understanding that every student learns differently. I work hard to engage every student and meet them at their level which sets up success for their required learning outcomes. I firmly believe that all students, if given the proper time, approach, and skills, can achieve their desired goals.
I have worked privately and for a number of companies over the years; and have, as a happy accident, ended up specialising in tutoring for the HSC (Advanced and Standard). This is due to my experience and skill in breaking down and guiding students through essay writing and analysis of complex tests. This is work that I can apply to any student from year 7 and up, including Adult and University Students.

For post-Secondary Students I have experience across University courses helping with breaking down syllabus and assessments, create scaffolding, as well as editing and offering feedback on creative and analytical writing. I have had helped two students achieve their Masters in Nursing simply through breaking down syllabus, creating scaffolding, and helping with editing essays and reports.

I structure lessons around a student's needs, for those in upper High School and University this tends to be based mostly on what is being studied in classes/courses. Whereas, for younger students, I often bring in outside resources to best support their classroom learning and expand their skill base.

I have availability for students on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I currently hold all of my tutoring online, using a combination of Zoom and Google Docs but am happy to discuss other platforms if a student prefers.
