As an ardent learner of languages (Arabic, Modern & Ancient Greek, Indonesian) and reader of literature, I relish in sharing my knowledge and guiding others through the language-learning process. Tutoring languages for me is not simply an income stream; it is what I enjoy putting my time towards. My approach centres on finding personal meaning and active connection to the learning material - making things meaningful, interesting and exciting is the supreme way to learn. My lessons are dynamic and interactive, but also flexible - I am always happy to accommodate individual student learning styles and needs.

Experience

I have experience tutoring Modern Standard Arabic (beginners to intermediate), Modern Greek (beginners to intermediate) and Indonesian (beginners to advanced). I currently teach Modern Standard Arabic and Modern Greek online at the CAE (Centre for Adult Education) in Melbourne as well as at the WEA Sydney. I also tutor in Arabic for first-year university students at the University of Melbourne.

I am also very well-placed to tutor English, both as a second language, and for native speakers who require assistance in using English for essay-writing or analytical purposes in English literature subjects. In addition to my second languages, English is one of my strong suits, in both its grammatical and stylistic forms.

I studied the Indonesian language for 8 years, having completed HL IB Indonesian with a final combined grade of 98%, and then tutored the language both at the Middle School level and for year 12 IB (VCE equivalent). While I no longer teach it, due to focusing more on other languages the past few years, my comprehension of Indonesian is still strong and makes me a good option for Indonesian-speaking students who want to study one of the other languages I tutor with me - English, Arabic or Greek.

Rates

$40-$60 per hour depending on: 1) the subject and style of tuition required (i.e. more structured lessons that require prepared materials will be between $50-$60 per hour); 2) the number of consecutive hours in the class (i.e. 2 hr classes are less per hour). Sessions with 2 or more students reduce the cost for each participant.
