PHOEBE CHEAH | RAW 45 BIOLOGY · RAW 47 PSYCHOLOGY · RAW 47 ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE

Understand the science. Know how to apply it. Feel more confident answering the question.

You finish a SAC, compare answers with a friend and realise you both understood the concept.

Yet somehow, your marks are different.

Perhaps your explanation needed another step. Perhaps you described the theory without connecting it to the scenario. Or perhaps you knew what you meant, but didn’t quite put it into words.

That gap between understanding the content and demonstrating it is where focused tutoring can help.

Hi, I’m Phoebe. I achieved raw study scores of 45 in Biology, 47 in Psychology and 47 in Environmental Science at John Monash Science School.

My aim is to help you build a clearer understanding of your subject and learn how to communicate that understanding when it counts.

Does any of this sound familiar?

- You spend hours making notes, but struggle to recall the information without looking.

- You understand an explanation in class, then feel stuck when the same concept appears in an unfamiliar question.

- You receive feedback such as “be more specific” or “link to the scenario”, but aren’t sure what to change.

- Or you’re already doing well and want to sharpen the details that could make your responses stronger.

Whatever your starting point, we can begin with the work in front of you: what you understand, where you get stuck and which changes would help most.

My Goal: Make difficult concepts easier to follow

When a topic feels overwhelming, we’ll break it into manageable steps and connect those steps together.

You’ll have space to ask questions, revisit an explanation and practise explaining the concept yourself. The aim is to develop understanding you can use independently, including when a question looks different from the examples you’ve seen.

Learn how to turn knowledge into a clear response

Knowing a definition is one part of preparation. Choosing the right information and applying it to a specific question takes practice too.

Together, we’ll work through how to:

- Identify the task in the question.
- Select the relevant concepts.
- Connect your explanation to the information provided.
- Use scientific terminology accurately.
- Include the reasoning needed to support your answer.

For example, if a question asks you to explain a result, we’ll practise connecting the relevant scientific process to that result, with each step made clear.

Understand why you lost marks—and what to do next

A corrected answer is useful. Understanding how to improve your next answer is even more useful.

We’ll compare your response with the question’s requirements, identify what was missing and practise applying that feedback to another example.

That gives each mistake a purpose: a specific skill to work on.

Give your study time a clearer direction

It can be difficult to know whether another hour of revision is actually helping.

We’ll build a practical routine around recalling information, revisiting topics over time and answering questions that reveal gaps in your understanding.

You’ll have a clearer sense of what you can do confidently and what needs more attention before your next assessment.

Support that starts where you are

If your foundations feel shaky, we’ll work through them step by step.

If you know the content but struggle with application, we’ll focus on reasoning and response construction.

If you’re aiming for a high study score, we’ll work on precision, unfamiliar questions and recurring errors.

You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out. Bring the topic that won’t click, the question you couldn’t start or the SAC feedback you don’t understand.

We’ll use it to find a useful next step.

Experience

I have tutored students who have gone on to achieve exceptional VCE results, including:

- Dominic — Raw 50 in Psychology
- Isabella — Raw 50 in Psychology
- Jessica — Raw 46 in Psychology

My approach connects clear explanations, targeted practice and feedback students can act on. We identify where understanding breaks down, strengthen the foundations and practise applying concepts to unfamiliar questions.

For students aiming high, we refine reasoning, terminology and response precision. For those building confidence, we establish manageable priorities and work towards greater independence.

Each lesson has a purpose: understand what needs to improve, practise it and build on that progress
