I am a VIT registered teacher of French, German and Spanish with 1000+ hours of tutoring experience. Educated in the UK, I completed my Bachelor's degree at the University of Cambridge and my PGCE (ITE equivalent) at the University of Oxford. I taught languages in UK secondary schools for over a year before moving to Melbourne in January 2023. I have since taught French, German and Spanish at all levels across a wide variety of primary and secondary schools in Melbourne. Some of this teaching experience includes teaching Spanish at the Victorian School of Languages, French at Loreto Mandeville Hall and German at Scotch College, Melbourne.
Having studied German, French and Spanish at both GCSE and A level (British VCE equivalent), I completely understand the difficulties associated with learning new grammar and vocabulary. By sharing my professional expertise and language learning tips, my aim is to not only help you improve, but also achieve the best grade possible! Being able to speak another language opens the doors to a multitude of possibilities. You can live and work abroad, all the while being able to communicate with native speakers and discover the local culture.
My main aim is to improve your confidence, as I realise that the prospect of making mistakes can be nerve-racking - but don't be afraid to make mistakes in my lessons - they are a vital part of the language learning process. My job is to help you make as much progress as possible and boost your grades!
During my lessons, we will practise all four language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking. I like to communicate in the target language as much as possible, engaging in real communication with my students, but switching to English when necessary e.g. explaining complex grammar. I also like to include as much cultural content as possible and use authentic resources, which may mean an occasional deviation from the curriculum. From experience, this makes learning a foreign language more interesting and fun.

Experience
I have taught 1000+ online lessons to students on various UK-based tutoring platforms, predominantly MyTutor, where I currently have 148 5-star reviews. Since April 2023, I have been tutoring a number of Australian students both in-person and online who will soon be taking their VCE examinations. Most of my students are between the ages of 11-18 and preparing for their upcoming pre-university examinations. However, I do also have experience tutoring adults from beginner level to advanced.
Qualifications
I am a qualified Modern Languages teacher. I completed my PGCE (official UK teaching qualification) at the University of Oxford in 2021, where I trained to teach German, Spanish and French to pupils of all ages, from Year 7 right the way up to Year 12. I am a VIT registered teacher. Since arriving in Melbourne, I have completed various long-term casual relief placements in schools across the city, therefore I am familiar with the Victorian F-10 and VCE curriculum.
In 2018, I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a Bachelor's degree in Modern and Medieval Languages (German & Spanish). In total, I have spent almost two years living and working abroad, in various locations across Germany and Peru.
