I'm Dr. Somayeh Mehrabankar, a PhD physicist and university researcher with over 10 years of international teaching experience. I provide personalised tutoring in Physics, Mathematics, Computational Physics, and GAMSAT Section 3, as well as research and thesis coaching for university students.

I am currently an Adjunct Research Fellow at Griffith University, where I am involved in research in physics and quantum information. I also teach Computational Physics and work as a Research Consultant supporting students and researchers with physics, computational methods, problem-solving and research projects.

My Teaching Approach

I focus on genuine understanding rather than memorisation. I explain difficult concepts clearly, work through problems step-by-step, and then help students develop the confidence to solve problems independently.

I adapt each session to the student's level and goals, whether they need help catching up, preparing for an exam, achieving high marks, understanding difficult university concepts, or developing research and problem-solving skills.

Tutoring Options & Location

Online tutoring: Available Australia-wide via Zoom.

Face-to-face tutoring: Available at my home tutoring space in Kalkallo, including individual and small-group sessions.

I also offer face-to-face tutoring at other locations within approximately 30 km of Kalkallo, subject to availability. Additional travel costs may apply depending on distance.

Experience

I have 10+ years of university teaching and research experience, including lectures, tutorials, physics laboratories, and one-on-one student supervision. I have taught undergraduate Physics covering mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, optics, and quantum physics.

I currently work as an Adjunct Research Fellow at Griffith University, where I teach Computational Physics and conduct research. I also work as a Research Consultant and provide coaching for Honours, Master's and PhD research projects, particularly in quantum physics, quantum information, and computational physics.

I am also a Senior Science Tutor at Fraser's Medical Institute, specialising in GAMSAT Section 3.

My teaching focuses on clear conceptual understanding, problem-solving skills, and adapting to each student's level and learning goals.
