I am a professional registered & qualified teacher and aside from my Musical focus, have a special interest in ESL, literacy, Math and Japanese language. I play guitar and sing, , my repertoire includes songs ranging from classic through to pop and rock. As well as guitar and vocals, I offer lessons in bass, ukulele, banjo, harmonica, mandolin, intro to drums & keyboard basics. I hold a current Blue Card. I read music so I can show you through a formal program such as Trinity Music College Of London which has exam options. I am well prepared to give you an organized lesson covering all the elements of a good music program. That would include chords, lead guitar, improvising, solo and part music across a range of genres. For singers, I try to include elements that will help your overall musical development, not just sing songs but to help you understand the detail you need to work with machines or a band. I can show you through various software with musical applications including Sibelius (score writing), Sonar and Mixcraft (recording), and various tech tools for musicians. I have an interest in writing original music so teach songwriting and instrumental music for those who have an interest.

I have written books for all instruments I teach which you will find useful. The quality of resources you use to develop your playing is very important. Professional teacher: tutoring all ages for over 25 years -offering private music lessons in guitar, bass, vocal, banjo, harmonica, ukulele, mandolin, intro to drums and keyboard basics. I use various music apps including Sonar Platinum and Mixcraft Pro (recording software), Sibelius (score editing), Pinnacle (video) as well as various music tech tools such as outboard audio interfaces, effectors and useful apps. No doubt I can teach most people of any level something. I have a wide variety of musical knowledge to share. I also include songwriting lessons for those who have an interest in developing their own ideas.
I play live professionally singing and playing so not just a closet musician. I have a high degree of preparation in place so can take you from a place of simply having a bit of fun to a much higher level of serious skill development if that is what you are after.
I have been teaching in schools for a similar amount of time and tutor Math, ESL and literacy.

Qualifications

I have a Diploma Of Teaching (DipTch) and Bachelor's degree in Education (B.Ed) and am registered as a teacher with Qld Education and QLD College Of Teachers which includes Blue Card registration. (Police safety check)

Rates

$35 per half hour private lesson at my studio. Extended lessons are possible and so are group lessons. I can travel for lessons depending on your location but generally need to charge a higher rate. Please call to discuss your needs.
I can manage large groups. If you would like to organize your own group or are looking for a guitar or uke teacher for a school group please call to discuss the possibilities.
I have managed groups as large as 30.
(Naturally I am exceptionally fast at tuning guitars.)
