While HSC English is my main focus and experience, I also assist students in writing for various University subjects. I welcome enquiries from people in the workforce who would like to improve their professional writing and speaking.

Studies of Religion and History
I craft lessons according to the needs of individual students. There is no 'one size fits all'.
I can provide notes and worksheets if needed/necessary.
Many students are too busy or they live too far away from North Sydney to avail themselves of face-to-face tutoring. I offer on line, phone and Skype/Facebook tutoring. I can combine these forms of communication to provide lessons to suit your needs.
I have taught HSC English since 1986. During that time I have been a Board of
Studies marker and have had a range of study texts published in the English Teachers'
magazine 'Metaphor' and Study Guide texts through 'Science Press'.
Authors/texts include: 'Emma' and 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen;
Poets 'Ted Hughes', Rosemary Dobson; novels: 'Things Fall Apart', 'The Spy Who
Came in From the Cold', 'Catch 22'; 'Harp in the South', 'Maestro', Plays: 'Pygmalion', 'Top Girls';
Shakespeare: 'Hamlet', 'Othello', 'Macbeth'.
For some years I worked with curriculum groups with The Board of Studies and I have
worked on The Board of Studies Advice Line for Advanced English.
I am an experienced editor of small and large texts. For example, 'Black Cat' with
Sylvia Fernandes (Singapore) and a book on personal development by Prema Achu (Kuala
Prior to 1986 I taught at the International School in Jakarata, Indonesia, and in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia. These postings augmented my interest in teaching Literature in
Western tradition to students whose first language was not English. During my 25
years tutoring in Sydney, I have taught both ESL and native language speakers.
I have witnessed how one on one tutoring can help students to clarify their ideas and
to become more confident and fluent in expressing their ideas, both orally and in
I encourage students to be lateral and critical thinkers and my professional and
personal ethics prevent me from 'spoon feeding' students or 'writing' their assignments for
I believe that the development of thinking skills and the ability to write succinctly and
logically, creates confidence for future study and careers.
I offer on line/email support for senior High School Students, University Students and also for professionals who wish to refine/polish their writing for various tasks and purposes.
